Rupert Gregson-Williams (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan, The Crown) is set to compose the music for the upcoming Chinese war epic 800 (Ba Bai). The film is directed by Guan Hu (Mr. Six, Cow) and tells the story of a group of Chinese soldiers and draft dodgers in 1937 who put up a four-day defense of a Shanghai warehouse complex just as Japanese forces are overwhelming China. Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the ITV series Dark Heart. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Dan Jones (On Chesil Beach, Shadow of the Vampire, My Scientology Movie, The Miniaturist). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 22 and will be available to download here. Dark Heart is written by Chris Lang and stars Tom Riley, Charlotte Riley, Miranda Raison and Anjli Mohindra. The 6-part crime thriller directed by Colin Teague follows Detective Inspector Will Wagstaffe as he investigates brutal and mysterious murders while battling his personal demons and dealing with romantic and family relationships. Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (LionAdriftPatrick MelroseGunpowder) has been hired to score the upcoming British romantic drama Summerland. The film marks the directorial debut of British playwright Jessica Swale and stars Gemma Arterton, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Penelope Wilton, Tom Courtenay, Lucas Bond and Dixie Egerickx. The World War II-set movie centers on a private and reclusive writer who finds herself being put responsible for the care of a young man after the London Blitz. Shadow Mountain Records will release a soundtrack EP for the faith-based drama Jane and Emma. The 6-track EP features songs from and inspired by the movie performed by The Bonner Family. The soundtrack will be released on March 1 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mel Elias is scoring the upcoming historical drama Robert the Bruce. The film is directed by Richard Gray (Sugar Mountain, The Lookalike) and stars Angus Macfadyen who is reprising his role from Mel Gibson’s Academy Award-winning 1995 feature Braveheart (scored by James Horner). Premiering on Tuesday, February 12 is the TBS original series Miracle Workers created by Simon Rich based on his book What in God’s Name and starring Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni. Pigalle Production has released a soundtrack album for the drama Holy Lands. The album features the film’s original music composed by Gregoire Hetzel (IncendiesIsmael’s GhostsMy Golden DaysSummertime). Also included is Jimmy Cliff’s song Many Rivers to Cross. The soundtrack is now available digitally in France (visit the French Amazon store to check out audio samples). No word yet on a domestic release. Holy Lands is written and directed by Amanda Sthers and stars James Caan, Tom Hollander, Rosanna Arquette, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Efrat Dor.
