Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Black Mass, Divergent) confirmed in a new interview with Film Music Magazine that he is currently scoring the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid feature Sonic the Hedgehog. The film is directed by Jeff Fowler and stars Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Neal McDonough, Adam Pally and Jim Carrey. The movie is based on the Sega video game franchise and follows a small-town sheriff in the rural town of Green Hills who teams up with Sonic to help him escape from the government who is looking to capture him. Nicholas Britell confirmed in recent interviews with Soundworks Collection and Deadline that he will be reteaming with director Barry Jenkins on the upcoming Amazon original limited series The Underground Railroad. The show is based on Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same title and centers on a young slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. When a recent arrival from Virginia tells her about the Underground Railroad, they decide to take a terrifying risk and escape. Jenkins will be directing all eleven episodes of the series. Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Verse: Into the Spider-Verse, Ocean’s 8, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) is composing the original score for the upcoming romantic comedy Yesterday. The film is directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) and stars Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon and Ed Sheeran. The movie follows a struggling singer whose dreams are fading who wakes to discover that The Beatles have never existed and finds himself with a very complicated problem. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Amblin Entertainment’s animated feature An American Tail directed by Don Bluth and starring Nehemiah Persoff, Erica Yohn, Amy Green, Christopher Plummer, John Finnegan, Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn and Phillip Glasser. The album features the film’s expanded original score composed and conducted by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens), including over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music.
