La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1971 James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever directed by Guy Hamilton and starring Sean Connery, Jill St. John, Charles Gray, Lana Wood, Jimmy Dean and Bruce Cabot. The 55th Anniversary Edition album features the remastered and expanded original score from the film composed, arranged and conducted by Academy Award winner John Barry (Dances with Wolves, Goldfinger, Out of Africa, Somewhere in Time, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Body Heat), including previously unreleased music, as well as alternate tracks and additional source cues. Also included is Shirley Bassey’s title song written by Barry and lyricist Don Black. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 5,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also find out more about the release and listen to audio samples. Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Body Double, Dressed to Kill, The Howling, Blow Out, Seed of Chucky) has recently scored the upcoming thriller Her Private Hell. The film is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, The Neon Demon) and stars Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Havana Rose Liu, Diego Calva, Kristine Froseth, Shioli Kutsuna, Aoi Yamada and Hidetoshi Nishijima. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie, which was shot and takes place in Tokyo. Refn also co-wrote the screenplay with Esti Giordani and is also producing the project. Caldera Records has announced the premiere release of the unused score from the 1979 legal drama Kramer vs. Kramer written and directed by Robert Benton and starring Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Jane Alexander. The CD features music written for the Academy Award-winning film by David Shire (The Conversation, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, Return to Oz, All the President’s Men, Zodiac, Short Circuit). Also included is the composer’s Emmy Award-nominated score from the 1978 television movie The Defection of Simas Kudirka written by Bruce Feldman, directed by David Lowell Rich and starring Alan Arkin, as well as twenty minutes of his music from the 1982 comedy drama The World According to Garp directed by George Roy Hill and starring Robin Williams.
