Alan Menken confirmed in a recent interview with Young Artists of America that he is working on new songs for the upcoming Disney+ Beauty and the Beast prequel series. The show is developed by Eddy Kitsis & Adam Horowitz (Once Upon a Time, Lost, Amazing Stories) and will star Josh Gad and Luke Evans who are reprising their roles from 2017’s live-action version. The 6-part limited series is set before the events of the film and will tell the origin story of Gaston and LeFou. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album for the Italian fantasy drama Creators: The Past. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by the movie’s director Piergiuseppe Zaia. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. A CD version is being released overseas and will be available to order as an import here. Creators: The Past is co-written and directed by Zaia and stars Gérard Depardieu, Bruce Payne, Eleonara Fani, Marc Fiorini, Jennifer Mischiati and William Shatner. Patrick Doyle to Score Declaration of Arbroath Documentary

Scottish newspaper The National is reporting that Academy Award nominee Patrick Doyle (Thor, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Cinderella, Brave, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Sense and Sensibility, Gosford Park, Murder on the Orient Express) is scoring a documentary about the Declaration of Arbroath, the letter submitted to Pope John XXII in 1320 that set out to confirm Scotland’s status as an independent, sovereign state. The movie, which has the working title Declaration, will feature appearances by historians Fiona Watson & Tom Turpie, broadcasters Billy Kay & Alistair Heather and author Andrew Redmond Barr. Opening on VOD today is the documentary Slay the Dragon directed by Barak Goodman & Chris Durrance. The movie centers on a secretive, high-tech gerrymandering initiative launched 10 years ago and follows everyday people as they fight to make their votes matter. The film’s original music is composed by Gary Lionelli (O.J. Made in America, Chasing the Moon, Last Days in Vietnam). No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening on VOD today is the thriller The Other Lamb directed by Malgorzata Szumowska and starring Raffey Cassidy, Michiel Huisman and Denise Gough. Rafael Leloup (Inheritance) and Pawel Mykietyn (Elles, In the Name Of) have composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which follows a woman who begins to question the leader of a cult and the insular world she was born into in this haunting vision of a nightmarish awakening, premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being released by IFC Midnight.
