Ennio Morricone has passed away at age 91 today in Rome, Italy. The composer has written more than 400 scores for film and television over a six decade-spanning career. His best known film scoring credits include Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, A Fistful of Dollars and Once Upon a Time in America, Gillo Pontecorvo’s The Battle of Algiers, John Carpenter’s The Thing, Roman Polanski’s Frantic, Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso, Wolfgang Petersen’s In the Line of Fire and Mike Nichols’ Wolf . He received six Academy Award nominations for his scores for Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven, Roland Joffe’s The Mission, Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables, Barry Levinson’s Bugsy, Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malena and won the Oscar for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. ‘Perry Mason’ Chapter 3 Soundtrack Album Released

WaterTower Music has released the third soundtrack album for the HBO original series Perry Mason. The album features the original score from the third episode of the show composed by Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, Inside Man, 25th Hour). Also included are two tracks performed by Josephine Foster and The Victor Herrero Band. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released two albums featuring the music from Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. A full soundtrack will be coming out at the season’s end. The 5-parter examines the story of high school football star Greg Kelley who was arrested, convicted and jailed for sexual assault of a 4-year-old boy, and his supporters’ quest for truth and justice. Premiering on Wednesday, July 8 is the Australian limited series Stateless created by Cate Blanchett, Elise McCredie & Tony Ayres and starring Blanchett, Yvonne Strahovski, Dominic West and Jai Courtney. George Kallis (Cliffs of Freedom, The Black Prince, Albion: The Enchanted Stallion, 93 Days) has signed on to score the two sequels to Disney’s Russian fantasy adventure The Last Warrior (Posledni Bogatyr). The first sequel, The Last Warrior: The Root of Evil, is directed by Dmitry Dyachenko and stars Victor Khorinyak, Elena Yakovleva, Ekaterina Vilkova, Konstantin Lavronenko and Evgeny Dyatlov. The project is produced by Disney CIS, Yellow Black and White. Kallis has previously composed the music for the 2017 original film and his score is available on Walt Disney Records.
