‘Forces of Nature’ Score Album Announced

La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere official release of the original score from the 1999 romantic comedy Forces of Nature directed by Bronwen Hughes and starring Sandra Bullock, Ben Affleck, Maura Tierney, Steve Zahn and Blythe Danner. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Happy Feet, Star Wars: A Solo Story, United 93, Bolt). Songwriter/composer Al Kasha has passed away today at age 83. He is best known for co-writing (with Joel Hirschhorn) numerous songs for stage and screen, including The Morning After from 1972’s The Poseidon Adventure and We May Never Love Like This Again from 1974’s The Towering Inferno, for which he received two Academy Awards. He was also Oscar-nominated for the song Candle on the Water from the 1977 original Pete’s Dragon movie and received a second nomination (shared with Hirschhorn and Irwin Kostal) for the Disney production in the Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score category. Laura Karpman has won her first Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special (Original Dramatic Score) category for her score for the episode Tools & Tactics from the Discover docu-series Why We Hate at today’s first part of the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. She has previously been received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for the TV series Odyssey 5 and Masters of Science Fiction and is also up for an Emmy this year for her main title theme from Why We Hate.
