John Debney has been tapped to score the upcoming Amazon Studios pilot Point of Honor . The show is created by Academy Award-nominated writer Randall Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers, The Man in the Iron Mask) & Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and stars Nathan Parsons, Christopher O’Shea, Annabelle Stephenson, Riley Voelkel, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, Patrick Heusinger, Luke Benward, Adrienne Warren, Lucien Laviscount and James Harvey Ward. The historical drama centers on a Virginia family who at the outset of the Civil War makes the controversial decision to defend the South while freeing all of their slaves. Wallace has also directed the pilot and is executive producing the project with Cuse and Barry Jossen (Sex and the City).

Songs from The CW’s ‘Supernatural’ Musical Episode ‘Fan Fiction’ Released
WaterTower Music has released a single featuring three songs from the Supernatural musical episode Fan Fiction. The songs are written by the show’s composers Christopher Lennertz and Jay Gruska and performed by cast members Alyssa Lynch, Katie Sarife, Vivien Armour, Kelli Ogmundson, Rachel Warkentin and Nina Winkler. Mateo Messina to Score USA’s ‘Dig’
Mateo Messina has signed on to score the upcoming USA event series Dig. The show is created by Tim Kring (Heroes, Crossing Jordan) and Gideon Raff (Homeland, Tyrant) and stars Jason Isaacs, Anne Heche, Alison Sudol, Regina Sudol, David Constabile and Omar Metwally. The action adventure drama follows an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating a murder of a woman archeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2000 years in the making that threatens to change the course of history. Kring and Raff are also executive producing the project with Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir (Homeland) and Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Lloyd Braun & Gene Stein (Alphas, Less Than Perfect) of BermanBraun.
‘Supernatural’ Musical Episode ‘Fan Fiction’ to Feature Songs by Christopher Lennertz & Jay Gruska
Christopher Lennertz and Jay Gruska have composed the original songs for the 200th episode of The CW hit series Supernatural. The special musical episode entitled Fan Fiction follows Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) as they investigate the disappearance of a high school teacher and are stunned to discover that the school is putting on a musical based on their lives. One of the show’s writers Robert Thompson wrote the lyrics to accompany the composers’ music. Original songs include The Boys Investigate, Supernatural, A Single Man Tear, The Road So Far, I’ll Just Wait Here Then, and an a cappella version of Carry on My Wayward Son. Lennertz and Gruska have been scoring the series since the first season.
Soundtrack for NBC’s ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ to Be Released
Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the NBC mini-series Rosemary’s Baby. The album features the two-parter’s original music composed by Antoni Komasa-Lazarkiewicz who previously collaborated with the project’s director Agnieszka Holland on In Darkness and HBO’s Burning Bush. Also included are two songs performed by Mary Komasa. The soundtrack will be released on November 10, 2014. Click here to listen to audio clips. Rosemary’s Baby is based on the best-selling novel by Ira Levin and stars Zoe Saldana, Patrick J. Adams, Jason Isaacs and Carole Bouquet. The mini-series follows a young married couple who escapes New York and moves into a Paris apartment with a haunted past and an immeasurable price.
Peter Nashel & Eric V. Hachikian Scoring Netflix’s ‘Marco Polo’
Peter Nashel and Eric V. Hachikian are composing the score for the upcoming Netflix original series Marco Polo. The show is created by John Fusco (Forbidden Kingdom, Hidalgo) and stars Lorenzo Richelmy, Zhu Zhu, Joan Chen, Benedict Wong, Remy Hii, Olivia Cheng, Claudia Kim, Uli Latukefu, Chin Han and Tom Wu. The drama is based on the famed explorer’s adventures in Kublai Khan’s court in 13th century China. Fusco is also executive producing the project with Harvey Weinstein and Dan Minahan (Game of Thrones, True Blood). Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directed the first two episodes and also serve as executive producers.
Mac Quayle Scoring ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’
Mac Quayle is the new composer of the FX hit series American Horror Story. The composer is currently scoring the fourth season of the show, entitled Freak Show. The horror drama is created Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk and stars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Michael Chiklis, Frances Conroy, Denis O’Hare, Emma Roberts, Finn Wittrock, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange. Among the guest stars this season are Wes Bentley and Matt Bomer. Freak Show is set in 1952 Jupiter, Florida and tells the story of one of the last remaining freak shows in America, and their struggle for survival.
Jeff Russo & Zoe Keating to Score A&E’s ‘The Returned’
Jeff Russo and Zoe Keating are composing the music for the upcoming A&E original series The Returned starring Mark Pellegrino, Tandi Wright, India Ennenga, Sophie Lowe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jeremy Sisto, Kevin Alejandro, Agnes Bruckner and Sandrine Holt. The show is based on the International Emmy Award-winning French series Les Revenants and focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) has written the pilot episode and is writing and executive producing the series with Raelle Tucker (True Blood).
‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ TV Series Soundtrack Announced
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The album features selections from the original score from the show’s seasons 1 through 6 composed by Kevin Kiner (Star Wars Rebels, CSI: Miami, Hell on Wheels). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 10, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A vinyl version is set to be released on December 6 and is available for pre-order here. Sony Classical has previously released a soundtrack featuring Kiner’s music from the feature version of the series. Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered in 2008 and the final season aired earlier this year on Cartoon Network.

Premiering tonight is the HBO original mini-series Olive Kitteridge directed by Lisa Cholodenko based on Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Price-winning novel of the same title and starring Frances McDormand, Richard Jenkins, Zoe Kazan, Bill Murray, John Gallagher Jr., Jesse Plemons and Brady Corbet. Carter Burwell (Fargo, Twilight, True Grit, Mildred Pierce) who previously scored Cholodenko’s 2010 feature The Kids Are All Right has composed the series’ original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release.
