Will Bates has signed on to score the upcoming Syfy original series The Magicians. The show is Lev Grossman’s best-selling fantasy book trilogy of the same title and stars Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta and Summer Bishil. The series follows a brilliant grad student who enrolls in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic and soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real.

Lifetime’s ‘A Deadly Adoption’ to Feature Music by MJ Mynarski
MJ Mynarski has composed the original music for the Lifetime original movie A Deadly Adoption. The film is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Escape from Polygamy, Love at the Christmas Table) and stars Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig and Jessica Lowndes. The movie follows a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her unborn child. Andrew Steele (Casa De Mi Padre, The Spoils of Babylon) wrote the screenplay.
Nathan Whitehead to Score WE tv’s ‘South of Hell’
Nathan Whitehead has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming WE tv original series South of Hell. The show is executive produced by Eli Roth (Hostel, Hemlock Grove, Cabin Fever) & Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Whiplash) and stars Mena Suvari, Zachary Booth, Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker and Paulina Singer. The supernatural thriller is set in Savannah, GA and follows a reluctant exorcist for hire with her very own demon living inside of her. Roth has also directed the pilot episode.
Lera Lynn’s ‘The Only Thing Worth Fighting For’ from HBO’s ‘True Detective’ Released
Harvest Records has released the original song The Only Thing Worth Fighting For performed by Lera Lynn from the second season of the HBO original series True Detective. Eminem to Produce Music for ‘Narc’ TV Series
Deadline is reporting that Eminem is in talks to serve as the music supervisor and write original songs for the Narc television series. The show is based on Joe Carnahan’s 2002 feature starring Ray Liotta and Jason Patric as two Detroit police detectives who are investigating the murder of an undercover cop. Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) has written the pilot script for the Detroit-set drama. Eminem is also expected to executive produce the Paramount TV production with Carnahan.
Blake Neely to Score CBS’ ‘Blindspot’
Blake Neely has been hired to score the upcoming NBC drama Blindspot. The show is created by Martin Gero (Stargate: Atlantis, Bored to Death) and stars Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Audrey Esparza, Rob Brown, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ukweli Roach and Ashley Johnson. The series centers around a beautiful woman, with no memories of her past, who is found naked in Times Square with her body fully covered in intricate tattoos. Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Brothers and Sisters, Life As We Know It) is producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Sarah Schechter (The Flash, The Mysteries of Laura) and Gero.

Premiering on Tuesday, June 16 is the TNT original series Proof produced by Kyra Sedgwick and starring Jennifer Beals, Matthew Modine, Joe Morton, Callum Blue, Edi Gathegi, Annie Thurman, Sean Gleeson and Caroline Rose Kaplan. The show’s original music is composed by David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden Kingdom, The Town). Proof follows a skeptical, brilliant female surgeon who has been struggling with the loss of her teenage son and is persuaded to investigate reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings and other supernatural cases. Trevor Rabin is scoring the upcoming ABC drama Blood and Oil. The show is created by Josh Pate (Aquarius) & Rodes Fishburne and stars Don Johnson, Chace Crawford, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Delroy Lindo, Amber Valletta, Scott Michael Foster, India de Beaufort, Yani Gellman and Caitlin Carver. The series follows a couple who dream of a new life and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history, where they are pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to put everything on the line, including their marriage.
Disney’s ‘Descendants’ Soundtrack Details
Walt Disney Records has revealed the details of the soundtrack album for the Disney Channel original movie Descendants. The album features the songs from the film performed by the movie’s cast members, as as well as the single Believe performed and written by 16 year-old recording artist Shawn Mendes. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by David Lawrence (High School Musical, American Pie). The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Descendants is directed and executive produced by Kenny Ortega and stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains.

Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the Fox event series Wayward Pines. The album features selections from the show’s original score composed by Charlie Clouser (Saw, Numb3rs, Las Vegas, Resident Evil: Extinction). The soundtrack will be released on July 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Wayward Pines is executive produced by Chad Hodge & M.
