Marvel Music has announced a soundtrack release for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series. The album features 12 songs from the show’s first season by artists including Blue Swede, Queen, The James Gang, Thin Lizzy, Gloria Gaynor, Hudson Brothers, Peaches and Herb, Cameo & more. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Mix Vol. 1 will be released on October 16, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Guardians of the Galaxy is based on the Marvel Comics series and features the voices of Will Friedle, Trevor Devall, Vanessa Marshall, Kevin Michael Richardson and David Sobolov.

Premiering on Tuesday, September 15, is the new FX original series The Bastard Executioner created by Kurt Sutter and starring Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, Sam Spruell, Sarah Sweeney, Danny Sapani, Darren Evans, Kurt Sutter, Timothy V. Murphy, Sarah White, Ethan Griffiths, Elen Rhys and Brian F. O’Byrne. The show’s original music is composed by Bob Thiele who previously scored FX’s Sons of Anarchy for Sutter. The series centers on a 14th century warrior, whose life is changed when a divine messenger orders him to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner. Jeff Russo & Zoe Keating to Score WGN America’s ‘Manhattan’ Season 2
Jeff Russo and Zoe Keating have taken over scoring duties on the WGN America original series Manhattan. The show is created by Sam Shaw and stars John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, William Petersen, Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Harry Lloyd, Katja Herbers, Christopher Denham, Michael Chernus, Harry Lloyd, Mamie Gummer and Griffin Dunne. The drama is set Los Alamos, New Mexico during World War II and follows the brilliant but flawed scientists who built the first atomic bomb and their families.
‘The Murder Pact’ Soundtrack Details
MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the thriller The Murder Pact. The album features the film’s original music composed by Matthew Llewellyn (Wishin’ and Hopin’, Deep in the Darkness). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 11, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Murder Pact is directed by Colin Theys and stars Alexa Pena Vega, Beau Mirchoff, Renee Olstead, Michael J. Willett and Sean Patrick Thomas. The movie follows four friends at a prestigious university whose promising futures are jeopardized when they become connected to the accidental death of a classmate.
DJ Steve Angello to Produce Music for The CW’s ‘The Drop’
DJ Steve Angello has joined the CW drama project The Drop as executive music producer. The show is being developed by Kyle Jarrow (A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant) who is writing the screenplay and R.J. Cutler (The September Issue, Nashville) who is set to directed the project’s pilot. The series is set in Miami’s electronic dance music scene and centers on a DJ teetering on the edge of ruin who finds hope in a gifted protégé who is female and African-American, both rarities in the EDM world.
Nathan Larson to Score HBO’s ‘Vinyl’
Nathan Larson is set to compose the score for the upcoming HBO series Vinyl. The show is created by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Sopranos) and stars Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Ato Essandoh, P. J. Byrne, J. C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen and Paul Ben-Victor. The drama is set in 1970s New York and tells the story of Richie Finestra, a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound. Martin Scorsese (Good Fellas, Taxi Driver, The Departed) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project with Winter, Mick Jagger, George Mastras (Breaking Bad), Rick Yorn (We Bought a Zoo), Victoria Pearman (Get on Up) and Emma Tillinger Koskoff (The Wolf of Wall Street).
‘Continuum’ Season 2 & 3 Soundtrack Released
RPI Music Publishing has released a new soundtrack album for the sci-fi series Continuum. The album features selections from the original music from the second and third season of the show composed by Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Lakeview Terrace). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. A soundtrack featuring music from the first season has previously been released on Lakeshore Records in 2013. Continuum is created by Simon Barry and stars Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster and Erik Knudsen. The show about a detective from the year 2077 who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver and searching for ruthless criminals from the future will return for a fourth and final season on September 11 on Syfy.
Pedro Bromfman to Score ‘Rio Heat’
Pedro Bromfman has been tapped to score the upcoming action comedy series Rio Heat. The show is created by Ken Gord & Dean Hamilton Bornstein and stars Harvey Keitel, Thaila Ayala and Victor Webster. The series follows a man and a woman who are hired by a mysterious figure and ex-CIA operator who now owns the largest private investigation company in the world to solve crimes. Stephen Campanelli (Momentum) has directed the first episodes, which are set to be released as a feature film in Brazil. Jon Cassar (24, When the Bough Breaks) is helming multiple episodes of the series and is also executive producing the project with Gord and Bornstein.

Premiering tonight on PBS is the mini-series Arthur & George directed by Stuart Orme, executive produced by Rebecca Eaton, written by Ed Whitmore and starring Martin Clunes, Arsher Ali, Art Malik, Emma Fielding, Charles Edwards and Hattie Morahan. The 3-parter’s original music is composed by Rob Lane (The Damned United, Merlin, John Adams). Arthur & George is based on the novel by Julian Barnes and follows world-famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as he works on case revolving around a half-Indian son of a vicar who is framed for a crime he may or may not have committed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, Ripper Street, Primeval).
