Mark Isham has taken over scoring duties on the the new ABC drama Blood & Oil. The drama is created by Josh Pate (Aquarius) & Rodes Fishburne and stars Don Johnson, Chace Crawford, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Delroy Lindo, Scott Michael Foster, India de Beaufort, Amber Valletta, Adan Canto, Yani Gellman and Caitlin Carver. The show follows a couple who dream of a new life and move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history, where they are pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to put everything on the line, including their marriage.

Clinton Shorter to Score USA’s ‘Colony’
Clinton Shorter has been tapped to score the upcoming USA original series Colony. The show is created by Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) & Ryan J. Condal (Hercules) and stars Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Peter Jacobson, Amanda Righetti, Tory Kittles, Alex Neustaedter and Isabella Crovetti-Cramp. The series is set in the near future and centers on a family who must make difficult decisions as they balance staying together with trying to survive. Cuse and Condal are also executive producing the Legendary Television and Universal Cable production with Holloway and Nelson McCormick.
Mateo Messina Scoring Hulu’s ‘Casual’ and NBC’s ‘Truth Be Told’ & ‘Superstore’
Mateo Messina is composing the music for the new Hulu original series Casual. The show is created by Zander Lehmann and stars Tommy Dewey, Michaela Watkins and Tara Lynn Barr. The series centers on a dysfunctional family with a bachelor brother and his newly divorced sister who coach each other through the world of dating while living under the same roof again and raising a teenager. Jason Reitman has directed the first episodes and is also executive producing the Lionsgate Television production with Lehmann, Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Men, Women & Children) and Liz Tigelaar.
‘Murder in Mexico’ Soundtrack Details
Bad Haircut will release a soundtrack album for the drama Murder in Mexico. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christian Davis (Just Let Go, Christmas Eve). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 25, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Murder in Mexico is directed by Marc Gantt and stars Colin Egglesfield and Leonor Varela. The movie tells the true story of Bruce Beresford-Redman, a producer for the hit reality show Survivor who took his wife Monica and their children on vacation to Mexico in an effort to salvage his crumbling marriage.

‘The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s series The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by The Outfit, including the theme song. Also included are original tracks from the series by Jukebox the Ghost, JD McPherson, Wordsworth and Prince Paul and Ra Ra Riot. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 2, 2015 and physically in December. Visit Amazon to pre-order the album. The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show features the voices of Chris Parnell and Max Charles as the title characters. The show based on last year’s feature sees Peabody & Sherman as the hosts of a latenight comedy show broadcast from their swank Manhattan penthouse in front of a live studio audience.
Retrospective: The Music of ‘Mad Men’ Soundtrack Announced
Republic Records, in partnership with Chop Shop Music and Lionsgate Entertainment will release a new soundtrack album for the AMC hit series Mad Men. The album features a collection of songs from all seven seasons of the show by artists including Bob Dylan, Roberta Flack, The Beach Boys, Bobby Helms, RJD2, Frank Sinatra, The New Seekers, Vic Damone, as well as actors Christina Hendricks, Robert Morse, Jessica Paré & more. Also included are two suites from the drama’s original score composed by David Carbonara. Retrospective: The Music of Mad Men will be released digitally on October 9, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mad Men created by Matthew Weiner and starring Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, Bryan Batt, Michael Gladis, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Maggie Siff and John Slattery aired between 2007 and 2015 on AMC.
Michael Price Scoring ITV’s ‘Unforgotten’
Michael Price is composing the music for the upcoming ITV series Unforgotten. The six-part drama is created by Chris Lang (Undeniable, The Tunnel) and stars Nicola Walker, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Trevor Eve, Bernard Hill, Ruth Sheen and Tom Courtenay. The show centers on a 39-year-old murder case that is re-opened when the bones of a young man are found beneath the footings of a demolished house. Lang is also executive producing the Mainstreet Pictures production with Sally Haynes & Laura Mackie (An Englisgman in New York).
Eduardo Noya to Score ‘Versailles’ TV Series
Eduardo Noya has been hired to score the upcoming period drama series Versailles. The show is created by Simon Mirren (Criminal Minds) & David Wolstencroft (The Escape Artist) and stars George Blagden, Alexander Vlahos, Dominique Blanc, Amira Casar, Tygh Runyan, Stuart Bowman, Noémie Schmidt, Evan Williams, Anna Brewster and Sarah Winter. The 10-parter is set in 1667 and follows Louis XIV as he evolves from a young King into an absolute monarch, a 17th century rock star with the mind of Machiavelli. Mirren and Wolstencroft are also executive producing the Canal Plus production with Claude Chelli and Anne Thomopoulos (Rome, Borgia).
Jeff Cardoni to Score Fox’s ‘The Grinder’
Jeff Cardoni has been hired to score the new Fox comedy The Grinder. The show is created by Andrew Mogel & Jarrad Paul (The D Train, Yes Man) and stars Rob Lowe, Fred Savage, William Devane, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Natalie Morales, Hana Hayes and Connor Kalopsis. The series follows a TV lawyer, known as The Grinder, who returns to his small-town home after his show is cancelled to work for his family’s real-life law firm. Mogel and Paul are also executive producing the project with Jess Wexler (The Comedians) and Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Walk Hard, New Girl) who also directed the pilot episode.
