Guillaume Roussel is composing the music for the new CBS drama Ransom. The show is created by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files, The Man in the High Castle, Transporter: The Series) & David Vainola and stars Luke Roberts, Sarah Greene, Brandon Jay McLaren and Nazneen Contractor. The series revolves around a world-renowned crisis and hostage negotiator whose team is brought in to resolve the most difficult kidnap and ransom cases. Big Light Productions’ Spotnitz & Vainola are also executive producing the Entertainment One, Wildcats and Sienna Films production with Jennifer Kawaja & Julia Sereny (Combat Hospital), Odile McDonald, Valerie Pechels and Jocelyn Hamilton.

Fox’s ‘Star’ to Feature Score by James Levine
James Levine is composing the original score for the new Fox drama Star. The show is created by Lee Daniels (Empire, The Butler, Precious) & Tom Donaghy (The Whole Truth) and stars Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady. The series revolves around three talented singers, desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success. Daniels and Donaghy are also executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Charles Murray (Luke Cage), Pamela Oas Williams (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) and Effie Brown (Dear White People).
‘Midnight Sun’ TV Series Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the French/Swedish thriller series Midnight Sun. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Taken series, Colombiana, Transporter: The Series, The Grandmaster). Also included are tracks by Sofia Jannok and Björn Stein. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Midnight Sun is directed by Mans Marlind & Bjorn Stein (The Bridge) and stars Leila Bekhti and Gustaf Hammarsten. The drama follows a French detective who teams up with a Swedish detective to investigate the bestial murder of a French citizen in a remote mining community in the far north of Sweden.
Soundtrack Details for Paolo Sorrentino’s HBO Series ‘The Young Pope’
Warner Music will release a soundtrack album for the Paolo Sorrentino’s series The Young Pope. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Lele Marchitelli (The Great Beauty). Also included are tracks by Jeff Buckley, Max Richter, John Adams, Bela Bartok, Antonello Venditti, Jefferson Airplane, Domenico Modugno & more as featured in the drama. The soundtrack will be released overseas on December 16, 2016 and is now available for pre-order as an import on Amazon. The Young Pope is created and directed by Sorrentino and stars Jude Law, Diane Keaton, Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Scott Shepherd, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, Toni Bertorelli and James Cromwell. The series tells the story of the beginning of the pontificate of Lenny Belardo, alias Pius XIII, the first American Pope in history.
Mark Yaeger to Score Go90’s ‘Embeds’
Mark Yaeger has been hired to score and write original songs for the upcoming political comedy series Embeds. The show is executive produced by Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Moneyball, Captain Phillips, Fifty Shades of Grey) is executive producing the project with Fox News star Megyn Kelly and follows five young reporters who are in way over their heads as they find themselves shaping the future of the country while experiencing raucous adventures in an unexpected world of sex, drugs, and swing states. Lucy Kitada is also executive producing the project with Haven Entertainment’s Kevin Mann & Jordana Mollick (Hello My Name is Doris) and Brendan Bragg (Life Partners).

Premiering on Wednesday, December 7, is the NBC television event Hairspray LIVE! based on the Broadway musical and starring Maddie Baillio, Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Harvey Fierstein, Ariana Grande, Garrett Clayton, Derek Hough, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, Ephraim Sykes and Shahadi Wright Joseph. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the special’s song written by Marc Shaiman (A Few Good Men, The Bucket List) and Scott Wittman (Smash, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and performed by the cast. Also premiering on Wednesday is the new Hulu original series Shut Eye created by Les Bohem and starring Jeffrey Donovan, KaDee Strickland, Isabella Rosselini, David Zayas, Susan Misner and Emmanuelle Chriqui. The show’s original music is composed by Ben Decter (CSI: Cyber, Lethal Weapon, Lucifer, Hostages). ‘Westworld’ Season 1 Soundtrack Details
WaterTower Music will release a full soundtrack album for the HBO original series Westworld. The album features the music from the show’s first season composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans, Warcraft). The soundtrack, which has a run time of 109 minutes, will be released digitally this coming Monday, December 5 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released an EP featuring five selections from the soundtrack. Westworld is created by Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 feature and stars Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, Tessa Thompson, and Sidse Babett Knudsen.
Bryce Jacobs to Score ’12 Monkeys’ Season 3
Bryce Jacobs has taken over scoring duties on the Syfy original series 12 Monkeys. The show is developed by Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett based on Terry Gilliam’s 1995 movie of the same title and stars Aaron Standford, Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, Todd Stashwick, Emily Hampshire, Barbara Sukowa and Noah Bean. The drama follows a time traveler from the future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race. Trevor Rabin & Paul Linford scored the first two seasons of the series.
Lifetime’s ‘Beaches’ Remake to Feature Music by Lesley Barber
Lesley Barber has been tapped to score the upcoming Lifetime original movie Beaches. The film is directed by Allison Anders (Grace of My Heart, Gas, Food Lodging) and stars Idina Menzel, Nia Long, Gabriella Pizzolo, Grace Capeless, Jodi Capeless, Sanai Victoria and Antonio Cupo. The movie is a remake of the 1988 feature of the same title (scored by Georges Delerue) starring Bette Midler and centers on a meeting of two youngsters on the Venice Boardwalk, who, though worlds apart in lifestyle, embark on an unexpected and lifelong friendship. Bart Barker (Supercross) and Nikole Beckwith (About Ray) have written the script based on the novel by Iris Rainer Dart.
Netflix’s ‘Trollhunters’ to Feature Music by Alexandre Desplat & Tim Davies
Alexandre Desplat has written the main titles music, as well as the main character’s theme for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming Netflix original series Trollhunters. The show’s score is composed by Tim Davies. Both composers received an Annie Award nomination for their work yesterday. The series is created by Guillermo del Toro and features the voices of Anton Yelchin, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, Charlie Saxton, Steven Yeun, Jonathan Hyde, Lexi Medrano, Amy Landecker and Fred Tatasciore. The show follows a 15-year old teenager who stumbles upon a Magical Amulet that gives him the title of Trollhunter, defender of the trolls that live below the human town of Arcadia. Del Toro is also executive producing the project with Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow) and Rodrigo Blaas.
