Mark Mothersbaugh revealed in an interview at last night’s BMI Film & Television Awards in Beverly Hills that he is currently scoring Cameron Crowe’s currently untitled romantic comedy drama starring Bradley Cooper, Emmy Stone, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Jay Baruchel, Michael Chernus and Ilvana Milicevic. The movie follows a Hawaii-based defense contractor who has to work with an Air Force pilot to stop the launch of a weapons satellite. In the process, the pair begin to fall for one another. Crowe has also written the screenplay and is producing the with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, Captain Phillips). Crowe previously collaborated with Jónsi on his last feature We Bought a Zoo and his wife Nancy Wilson who composed music for films including Vanilla Sky, Elizabethtown and Almost Famous.

Michael Giacchino to Score ‘Jurassic World’
Michael Giacchino has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure Jurassic World. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, Vincent D’Onofrio, Judy Greer and BD Wong. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is set to take place 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park. Trevorrow has also co-written the screenplay with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are producing the project and Steven Spielberg serves as an executive producer. The composer follows John Williams who scored Steven Spielberg’s first two movies in the series, as well as Don Davis who scored Jurassic Park III.
Mark Isham to Score Gina Prince-Bythewood’s ‘Blackbird’
Mark Isham has been hired to score the upcoming drama Blackbird. The film is written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nate Parker, Minnie Driver, Colson “MGK” Baker and Danny Glover. The movie follows an award-winning artist who is primed for superstardom. The pressures of success compel her to nearly end her life until she is saved by a young police officer. Stephanie Allain (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan), Reggie Rock Bythewood, Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter, Limitless) and Amar’e Stoudemire are producing the project. Isham has previously collaborated with the director on the 2008 drama The Secret Lies of Bees starring Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson & Queen Latifah.
Andrew Lockington Scoring ‘Incarnate’
Andrew Lockington is reuniting with director Brad Peyton on the upcoming thriller Incarnate. The film stars Aaron Eckhart, Carice van Houten, Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Mazouz. The movie follows an unconventional exorcist who taps into the subconscious of a nine-year old boy who is possessed by a powerful, ancient demon. Ronnie Christensen (Passengers, Dark Tide) has written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company. WWE Studios president Michael Luisi (The Call, Oculus) is executive producing alongside Trevor Engelson, Stuart Ford, Couper Samuelson, Michael Seitzman and Charles Layton.
Benjamin Wallfisch to Score ‘Crawlspace’
Benjamin Wallfisch has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Crawlspace. The film is directed by Phil Claydon (Lesbian Vampire Killers) and stars Michael Vartan, Erin Moriarty, Nadine Velazquez, Blake Jenner, Ronnie Gene Blevins and Misty Upham. The movie follows a widower with a daughter who gets remarried and has the opportunity for a new start in a new house and immediately falls prey to strange occurrences. James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Fast & Furious 7) is producing the New Line Cinema production with Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House, White Chicks) for The Safran Company. Gary Dauberman (Annabelle) has written the screenplay.
Daniel Hart Scoring ‘Comet’
Daniel Hart is composing the music for the upcoming indie romantic comedy Comet. The film is written and directed by Sam Esmail and stars Emmy Rossum and Justin Long. The movie is set in a parallel universe and bounces back and forth over the course of an unlikely but perfectly paired couple’s six-year relationship. Farnaz Fahid, Chad Hamilton and Lee Clay (Beautiful Boy, 96 Minutes) are producing the project. Steve Golin (Babel, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, True Detective) is executive producing for Anonymous Content. Hart is best known for his music for last year’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints starring Rooney Mara & Casey Affleck.
Mark Webber’s ‘The Ever After’ to Feature Music by Moby
Moby is contributing music to the upcoming indie drama The Ever After. The film is directed by Mark Webber (The End of Love, Explicit Ills) who also stars in the film alongside his wife Teresa Palmer, Melissa Leo, Phoebe Tonkin, Rosario Dawson and Joshua Leonard. Moby also appears in a supporting role in the movie. The drama follows a mother and wife and her fashion photographer husband who must confront their innermost vulnerabilities to recover their disintegrating marriage. Webber and Palmer have co-written the screenplay and are also producing the project through their production companies Poor Rich Kids and Yumehome.
James Newton Howard to Score Edward Zwick’s ‘Pawn Sacrifice’
James Newton Howard is reuniting with director Edward Zwick on the upcoming biographical drama Pawn Sacrifice. The film is set at the height of the Cold War and tells the true story of U.S. chess prodigy Bobby Fischer and his epic faceoff against Russia’s Boris Spassky. Tobey Maguire is portraying Fischer while Liev Schreiber plays his archrival. Peter Saarsgard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lily Rabe and Sophie Nelisse are co-starring. Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Dirty Pretty Things, Locke) jas written the screenplay. Maguire is also producing the project with Gail Katz (The Perfect Storm, Air Force One, Outbreak). Howard has previously collaborated with Zwick on Blood Diamond, Defiance and Love and Other Drugs.
Joseph LoDuca to Score Joe Dante’s ‘Burying the Ex’
Joseph LoDuca has been hired to score the upcoming horror comedy Burying the Ex. The film is directed by Joe Dante and stars Anton Yelchin, Ashley Greene, Alexandra Daddario and Oliver Cooper. The movie follows a normal guy whose controlling girlfriend suddenly dies in a freak accident and rises from the grave to haunt him. Alan Trezza has written the screenplay. The comedy is produced by Image Entertainment, Scooty Woop Entertainment and Act 4 Entertainment production. Voltage Pictures’ Nicholas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Dallas Buyers Club) is executive producing the project with Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Zev Foreman and Dominic Rustam.
Apparat to Score Drake Doremus’ ‘Equals’
German electronic musician Apparat is set to compose the music for the upcoming sci-fi romance Equals. The film is directed by Drake Doremus and stars Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult. The movie is set in the future and centers on a couple young couple rebelling against their society where emotions have been eradicated. Nathan Parker (Moon) has written the screenplay. Ridley Scott is producing the project with Michael Schaefer (Exodus: Gods and Kings), Ann Ruark (The Beaver, The Motel Life), Jay Stern and Chip Diggins (Love and Honor). Doremus’ previous two features Like Crazy and Breathe In were scored by Dustin O’Halloran. Equals marks Apparat’s first time composing original music for film.
