Patrick Leonard has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama Lullaby. The film is written and directed by Andrew Levitas and stars Garrett Hedlund, Richard Jenkins, Amy Adams, Jessica Brown Findlay, Anne Archer, Terrence Howard, Jennifer Hudson and Jessica Barden. The movie centers on a man estranged from his family, who receives word that his ill father has chosen to take himself off life support in less than 48 hours. Andrea Stone-Brokaw and Cary Brokaw (Short Cuts, Closer, Sex and Death 101 are producing the project. Budd Carr (JFK, Natural Born Killers, Donnie Brasco) serves as the film’s executive music producer.

Nick Urata to Score ‘Focus’
Nick Urata has been tapped to score the upcoming caper comedy Focus. The film is written and directed by Glenn Ficarra & John Requa and stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Rodrigo Santoro. The movie follows a con man who becomes romantically involved with a novice and is thrown off his game when the former flame shows up just as he’s staging an elaborate con in Buenos Aires. Denise Di Novi (Edward Scissorshand, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Returns) is producing the Warner Bros. Pictures production. Urata has previously composed the music for the directors’ I Love You Phillip Morris and also co-scored their last feature Crazy, Stupid, Love. and contributed music to their TV pilot Back in the Game.
Stephen Endelman Scoring Peter Bogdanovich’s ‘Squirrels to the Nuts’
Stephen Endelman has recently recorded his music for the upcoming comedy Squirrels to the Nuts. The film is directed by Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show, What’s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon) and stars Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Kathryn Hahn, Imogen Poots, Will Forte, Cybill Shepherd, Rhys Ifans, Lucy Punch, Ahna O’Reilly, Jake Hoffman, Austin Pendleton and George Morfogen. The movie follows a married Broadway director who meets a call girl and tries to convince her to change her life. Bogdanavich has also co-written the screenplay with Louise Stratten. Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom) and Noah Baumbach (Greenberg, Frances Ha) are producing the project with Holly Wiersma (Bobby, Bug), Logan Levy and music supervisor George Drakoulias.
Thomas Newman to Return for ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2’
Thomas Newman is set to return to compose the score for the comedy drama sequel The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2. The film is directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) and reunites the cast of the original film including Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel, Celia Imrie, Ronald Pickup, Penelope Wilton, Diana Hardcastle, Tena Desae and Lillete Dubey. They are joined by Richard Gere, David Strathairn and Tamsin Greig. Ol Parker (Imagine Me & You) who scripted the original film has written the screenplay based on a story by himself and Madden. Blueprint Pictures’ Graham Broadbent & Peter Czernin (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths are producing the project.
Joseph Bishara Scoring ‘Annabelle’
Joseph Bishara is composing the music for the upcoming horror thriller Annabelle. The film is a spin-off of last year’s The Conjuring and stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Alfre Woodard, Eric Ladin and Brian Howe. The movie is directed by John Leonetti (The Butterfly Effect 2) who served as the cinematographer on The Conjuring and explores the haunted doll Annabelle, which was featured in the hit horror film. Gary Dauberman has written the screenplay and Peter Safran (Buried, Vampire Sucks) and James Wan (Insidious, Saw) are producing the New Line Cinema production.
Alex Heffes Scoring ‘What We Did on Our Holiday’
Alex Heffes is currently recording his score for the upcoming British comedy What We Did on Our Holiday. The film is written and directed by Andy Hamilton & Guy Jenkin (Outnumbered) and stars Rosamund Pike, David Tennant, Billy Connolly, Ben Miller and Amelia Bullmore. The movie follows a couple who tries to keep their impending divorce secret from their extended family during a trip to one of their father’s birthday party. David M. Thompson (The Awakening) and Dan Winch are producing the BBC Films and Origin Pictures production. Heffes has previously scored the features The First Grader and last year’s Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom for Origin Pictures and produced by Thompson.
Guillaume Roussel to Score ‘Outcast’
Guillaume Roussel has been tapped to score the upcoming martial arts action movie Outcast. The film marks the directorial debut of stunt coordinator and fight choreographer Nick Powell and stars Nicolas Cage, Hayden Christensen and Liu Yifei. The movie is set in the 12th Century and follows two European Crusaders who chose to wander off toward western China, where they become entangled in romance and antagonism with local royalty. James Dormer (Strike Back) has written the screenplay. Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil, Death Race) is producing the project with Alan Zhang, Karine Martin (The Moth Diaries), Leonard Glowinski, Ying Ye, Gary Hamilton (Bait), Chris Milburn (Getaway, An American Haunting), George Mizen and Tove Christensen (Shattered Glass).
Nathan Barr to Co-Score Rob Cohen’s ‘The Boy Next Door’
Nathan Barr revealed in a recent interview with Billboard that he will be co-scoring the upcoming thriller The Boy Next Door with Randy Edelman who was previously announced as the composer of the film. The movie is directed by Rob Cohen (xXx, The Fast and the Furious, Dragonheart, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) and stars Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Guzman, Kristin Chenoweth and John Corbett. The thriller scripted by Barbara Curry follows a newly separated mother who begins an affair with a teenage neighbor who befriends her son. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Sinister) is producing the Blumhouse, Nuyorican and Smart Entertainment production with John Jacobs (Ted, Blades of Glory), Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (Maid in Manhattan, Mona Lisa Smile) and Benny Medina (The Fighting Temptations).
Bruno Coulais Scoring Anne Fontaine’s ‘Gemma Bovery’
Bruno Coulais is the composer of the upcoming drama Gemma Bovery. The film is directed by Anne Fontaine and stars Gemma Arterton, Jason Flemyng, Mel Raido and Fabrice Luchini. The movie is based on a graphic novel by Posy Simmonds, which is loosely based on Gustave Flabert’s Madame Bovary and chronicles the last last few months in the life of the English expatriate living in Normandy. Philippe Carcassonne (Coco Before Chanel, The Illusionist) and Faye Ward are producing the Gaumont production. Fontaine has previously collaborated with Coulais on the 2011 romantic comedy My Worst Nightmare. She has also worked together witch such composers as Alexandre Desplat (Coco Before Chanel and Christopher Gordon (Two Mothers).
Antonio Pinto Scoring Stephen Daldry’s ‘Trash’
Antonio Pinto is scoring the upcoming dramatic thriller Trash. The film is directed by Stephen Daldry and stars Rooney Mara, Martin Sheen, Wagner Moura, Selton Mello, Rickson Tevez, Eduardo Luis and Gabriel Weinstein. The movie is set in the Third World and tells the story of three poverty-stricken boys who discover a wallet with a treasure map inside in a city dump. Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill) has written the screenplay based on Andy Mulligan’s 2010 novel. Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Rush, Les Miserables) are producing the project for Working Title, alongside Kris Thykier (Kick-Ass, The Debt) for PeaPie Films.
