Brian Reitzell is composing the music for the upcoming indie drama Kicks. The film is directed by Justin Tipping and stars Jahking Guillory, Mahershala Ali, Kofi Siriboe, Christopher Jordan Wallace and Christopher Meyer. The movie follows a fifteen-year old boy and his two best friends who go on an ill-advised mission across the Bay Area to retrieve the a pair of sneakers that were stolen by a local hood. Tipping has also written the screenplay with Josh Beirne-Golden. David Kaplan (It Follows), Joshua Astrachan (Short Term 12, A Prairie Home Companion) and Adele Romanski (The Myth of the American Sleepover, Black Rock) are producing the project.

Zacarías M. de la Riva has composed the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Pet. The film is directed by Carles Torrens (Apartment 143) and stars Dominic Monaghan, Ksenia Solo, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Parsons, John Ross Bowie, Da’Vone McDonald and Janet Song. The movie follows an introverted man who imprisons a woman, only to find the tables turned on him. Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four, The Lazarus Effect) has written the screenplay. Nick Phillips and Kelly Martin Wagner (Beneath) are producing the project.

Hans Zimmer and Rupert Gregson-Williams have taken over scoring duties on the upcoming action adventure The Legend of Tarzan. The film is directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and stars Alexander Skarsgård in the title role, as well as Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent and Christoph Waltz. Adam Cozad (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) and Craig Brewer (Footloose, Hustle & Flow) have written the screenplay based on the Tarzan stories created by Edward Burroughs.
David Newman Scoring Larry Charles’ ‘Army of One’
David Newman has recently composed the music for the upcoming comedy Army of One. The film is directed by Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno, The Dictator) and stars Nicolas Cage, Russell Brand, Denis O’Hare, Ken Marino, Paul Scheer, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Rainn Wilson. The movie follows a handyman from Colorado who receives a vision telling him to go to Pakistan to capture Osama Bin Laden. Scott Rothman & Rajiv Joseph (Draft Day) have written the screenplay. Dawn Ostroff and Jeremy Steckler are producing the project for Conde Nast Entertainment, alongside James D. Stern (Looper, I’m Not There, Self/less) for Endgame Entertainment, as well as Emile Gladstone.

Michael Andrews is composing the music for the upcoming dramatic thriller Money Monster. The film is directed by Jodie Foster (Little Man Tate, The Beaver) and stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe. The movie follows a bombastic television stock huckster whose program and life are taken hostage by an outraged gunman. Alan DiFiore, Jim Kouf (National Treasure, Rush Hour) and Jamie Linden (We Are Marshall, Dear John) have written the screenplay. Clooney is also producing the project with Grant Heslov (Argo, Good Night and Good Luck, The Ides of March), Daniel Dubiecki (Up in the Air) and Lara Alameddine.
Christian Henson to Score Jason Connery’s ‘Tommy’s Honor’
Christian Henson is reteaming with director Jason Connery on the upcoming drama Tommy’s Honor. The film stars Peter Mullan, Jack Lowden, Ophelia Lovibond and Sam Neill. The movie revolves around golfing pioneer Tom Morris and his multi-faceted relationship with his son Tommy. Pamela Marin and Kevin Cook have written the screenplay based on a novel by Cook. Keith Bank, Bob Last (The Illusionist), Jim Kreutzer and Tim Moore (In the Land of Blood and Honey, Sully) are producing the project. Henson has previously collaborated with Connery (51, The Devil’s Tomb) on the 2009 thriller Pandemic.
Dustin O’Halloran & Hauschka Scoring Garth Davis’ ‘Lion’
Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) are currently scoring the upcoming drama Lion. The film is directed by Garth Davis (Top of the Lake) and stars Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, David Wenham, Divian Ladwa, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Priyanka Bose, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Deepti Naval. The film is based on the book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley and centers on a street kid from Calcutta who is taken in and adopted by a couple in Australia. Luke Davies (Candy, Life) has written the screenplay. Emile Sherman (The King’s Speech, Iain Canning (Shame, Mr. Holmes, Macbeth) and Angie Fielder (Wish You Were Here) are producing the project.
Randy Newman to Score Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’
Randy Newman revealed in an interview with The Advertiser that he is set to compose the music for Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Cars 3. Owen Wilson is expected to return to voice Lightning McQueen, while Larry the Cable Guy is expected to reprise his role as Mater. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the film is said to feature a tribute to Hayao Miyazaki’s movie The Castle of Cagliostro. No director has been announced, but John Lasseter who directed the first two parts will be producing the project. Newman previously scored 2006’s original cars film, while Michael Giacchino composed the music for the 2011 sequel.
Brian Tyler to Score ‘Power Rangers’
Lionsgate announced today that Brian Tyler will be composing the music for the upcoming Power Rangers movie. The film is directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) and stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa. The movie follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. John Gatins (Real Steel), Burk Sharpless & Matt Sazama (Dracula Untold), Zack Stentz & Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class) and Max Landis (Chronicle) have written the screenplay.
Paul Weller to Score ‘Jawbone’
British singer/songwriter Paul Weller is set to compose the music for the upcoming boxing drama Jawbone. The film is directed by Thomas Napper and stars Johnny Harris, Ray Winstone, Michael Smiley and Ian McShane. The movie follows a former youth boxing champion who, after hitting rock bottom, returns to his childhood boxing club and his old team. Harris has also written the screenplay. Mike Elliott (The Devil’s Rejects, 31) is producing the project for Emu Films. Andrew Eaton, Christine Langan and Nichola Martin serve as executive producers.
