Interscope Records will release a soundtrack album for the mockumentary sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. The 13-track album feature nine new original songs, as well as four reinvented tracks from the original This Is Spinal Tap movie. Remastered ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Polydor Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1984 mockumentary/comedy This Is Spinal Tap co-written and directed by Rob Reiner and starring trio Christopher Guest, Michael McKean & Harry Shearer as the members of the fictional rock band Spinal Tap. The album features the band’s songs from the movie, newly remastered by Bernie Grundman from the soundtrack’s original stereo analog master tapes, and will be released on September 5. Composer Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns, Sleepless in Seattle, Sister Act, City Slickers) is reteaming with director Rob Reiner on the upcoming documentary Albert Brooks: Defending My Life. The film centers on comedian, actor and filmmaker Albert Brooks and features interviews with Larry David, Ben Stiller, Judd Apatow, Conan O’Brien, James L. Brooks, Chris Rock, among others. Reiner is also producing the Castle Rock Entertainment production with Matthew George (Wind River, A Private War) and Michele Singer (Shock and Awe).

Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the political drama Shock and Awe. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Appaloosa, Pollock, Ugly Betty). The soundtrack will be released on July 13, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Chris Bacon is currently recording his score for Rob Reiner’s upcoming drama Being Charlie. The movie follows an 18-year-old who breaks out of a youth drug treatment clinic, but when he returns home to Los Angeles, he’s given an intervention by his parents and forced to go to an adult rehab. The film stars Nick Robinson, Morgan Saylor, Common, Devon Bostick, Susan Misner, Ricardo Chavira and Cary Elwes. Reiner is also producing the project with Simon Goldberg through their Castle Rock Entertainment company, alongside Johnson Chan and Stephanie Rennie. The director’s son Nick Reiner wrote the screenplay with Matt Elisofon.

Marc Shaiman has recently recorded his score for the upcoming comedy drama And So It Goes. The film is directed by Rob Reiner and stars Michael Douglas, Diane Keaton, Sterling Jerins, Frankie Valli, Scott Shepherd and Frances Sternhagen. The movie follows a self-centered real estate agent whose life is turned upside down when his estranged son suddenly drops off a granddaughter he never knew. Academy Award nominee Mark Andrus (As Good As It Gets, Life as a House) has written the screenplay. Reiner is also producing the Foresight Unlimited and Castle Rock production with Alan Greisman (Fletch, Soapdish) and Mark Damon (Monster, Nine 1/2 Weeks).
