Danny Elfman has composed a musical theme for Universal Pictures’ Dark Universe logo. The theme will make its first appearance in from of the inaugural film in the new classic monster series, Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy starring Tom Cruise Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance & Russell Crowe, which will be released in theaters nationwide on June 9. Future titles of the Dark Universe include Bill Condon’s Bride of Frankenstein, which is set to be released on February 14, 2019. Check out a teaser for Dark Universe after the jump.

Tyler Bates Scoring ’24 Hours to Live’
Tyler Bates has recently composed the music for the upcoming action thriller 24 Hours to Live. The film is directed by former stunt coordinator Brian Smrz (Hero Wanted) and stars Ethan Hawke, Xu Qing, Paul Anderson, Liam Cunningham and Rutger Hauer. Zachary Dean (Deadfall) wrote the screenplay based on an original script from Ron Mita & Jim McClain (S.W.A.T.). Basil Iwanyk (Sicario, The Town, Clash of the Titans) is producing the project for Thunder Road Pictures, alongside Mark Gao (The Transporter Refueled, The Warrior’s Gate) and Gregory Ouanhon for Fundamental Films.
Alberto Iglesias to Score Iciar Bollain’s ‘Yuli’
Alberto Iglesias has signed on to score the upcoming biographical drama Yuli. The movie directed by Iciar Bollain (Even the Rain, Take My Eyes) tells the story of Cuban ballet superstar Carlos Acosta’s rise from the streets of Havana to the heights of classical ballet, becoming the first black principal guest dancer at the Royal Ballet in London. Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake, The Wind That Shakes the Barley) wrote the screenplay based on Acosta’s autobiography No Way Home. The project is produced by BBC Films, Potboiler Productions and Spain’s Morena Films.
Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus to Return for ‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!’
Universal Pictures announced that Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will be providing the music for the upcoming movie musical Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!. The film is the sequel to the studios’ 2008 hit feature Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth. The movie will be written and directed by Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Imagine Me and You) and will feature ABBA songs not featured in the first film, as well as some reprised favorites. Judy Craymer who produced the stage musical version is producing the project with Playtone’s Gary Goetzman (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Where the Wild Things Are).
Roque Banos to Score Terry Gilliam’s ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’
Roque Banos has been hired to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. The film is directed by Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Fisher King, The Brothers Grimm) and stars Adam Driver, Michael Palin, Stellan Skarsgard and Olga Kurylenko. The movie follows a jaded young advertising executive who returns to the Spanish village where he made a film based on Cervantes’ masterpiece years earlier and meets a villager who believes himself to be Don Quixote as he gets swept up in a fantastic extravaganza complete with damsels in distress, knights and giants. Gilliam also co-wrote the screenplay with Tony Grisoni (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Tideland) based on the novel by Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra.
Roque Banos to Score Jaume Collet-Serra’s ‘The Commuter’
Roque Banos is currently scoring the upcoming action thriller The Commuter. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, Unknown, Orphan, The Shallows) and stars Liam Neeson, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Sam Neill, Elizabeth McGovern and Jonathan Banks. The movie centers on a businessman in his daily commute home who is forced by a mysterious stranger to uncover the identity of a passenger before the train’s last stop. Byron Willinger and Phil de Blasi wrote the screenplay. Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman (Non-Stop, The Apparition) are producing the Studiocanal and The Picture Company production.
Gary Yershon to Score Mike Leigh’s ‘Peterloo’
Gary Yershon will be reteaming with Mike Leigh on the director’s upcoming drama Peterloo. The film is written and directed by Leigh (Secret & Lies, Vera Drake, Topsy-Turvy) and tells the story of the infamous 1819 massacre at a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St. Peter’s Field in Manchester, England, when many working people were injured and killed. Georgina Lowe is producing the Amazon Studios, Film4, the BFI and Lipsync production. Yershon has previously collaborated with Leigh on the director’s previous three features, Happy-Go-Lucky, Another Year and Mr. Turner, for which he received his first Academy Award nomination.
Christopher Lennertz to Return for ‘A Bad Moms Christmas’
Christopher Lennertz is set to return as the composer for the upcoming comedy sequel A Bad Moms Christmas. The film is written and directed by Jon Lucas & Scott Moore who also helmed last year’s original movie and stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, David Walton and Wanda Sykes who return in their roles from the previous movie. They are joined by new cast members Cheryl Hines, Christine Baranski, Susan Sarandon, Peter Gallagher and Justin Hartley. The movie follows follows Amy, Kiki and Carla as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas.
A.R. Rahman to Score ‘Sangamithra’
According to The Hollywood Reporter, A.R. Rahman is set to compose the music for the upcoming Indian epic drama Sangamithra. The film will be directed by Sundar C. (Aranmanai, Anbe Sivam) and is set to star Jayam Ravi, Arya and Shruti Haasan. The movie is set in the 8th century AD and tells the story of the trials and tribulations of Sangamithra and her journey to save her kingdom. The drama produced by Thenandal Studios Limited will be split and released in two parts. Sangamithra is currently in pre-production and will begin principal photography this summer.
Rob Simonsen Scoring Jason Reitman’s ‘Tully’
Rob Simonsen is scoring the upcoming comedy Tully. The film is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking) and stars Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Mark Duplass and Ron Livingston. The movie follows a mother of three who comes to form a unique bond with a thoughtful, surprising and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully. Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult, United States of Tara) wrote the screenplay. Reitman is also producing the project with Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Labor Day), Aaron L. Gilbert (The Birth of a Nation) for Bron Studios, Cody, Mason Novick (500 Days of Sumer), as well as Theron, A.J. Dix (The Butterfly Effect) & Beth Kono (Atomic Blonde) for Denver & Delilah.
