Henry Jackman has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming fantasy adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The film is directed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Orange County) and stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, Bobby Cannavale and Nick Jonas. The movie follows four high school kids who are transported into an adventure video game and must survive from its challenges. Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers (Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Lego Batman Movie) and Scott Rosenberg (High Fidelity) & Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) wrote the screenplay based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg.

Tom Howe is scoring the upcoming biographical drama Professor Marston & the Wonder Women. The film is written and directed by Angela Robinson (True Blood, The L Word) and stars Luke Evans, Bella Heathcote, Rebecca Hall, Connie Britton and Oliver Platt. The movie tells the story of Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston, the inventor of the lie detector and creator of Wonder Woman, who defends his feminist superhero against charges of “sexual perversity.” Amy Redford, Andrea Sperling (Like Crazy, Smashed, Breathe In) and Terry Leonard (Hounddog) are producing the project for Topple Productions and Boxspring Entertainment.

Evgueni and Sacha Galperine have composed the music for the drama Loveless (Nelyubov). The film is directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev (Leviathan, The Return) and stars Maryana Spivak, Alexey Rozin, Matvey Nokikov, Marina Vasilyeva, Andris Keishs and Alexey Fateev. The movie tells the story of a couple locked in a bitter divorce battle forced to cooperate when its young son goes missing after witnessing one of his parents’ violent arguments. Zvyagintsev also wrote the screenplay with Oleg Negin (Leviathan).
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke to Score Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Suspiria’ Remake
Variety is reporting that Radiohead member Thom Yorke will be scoring the remake of Suspiria. The film is directed by Luca Guadagnino (I Am Love, A Bigger Splash) and stars Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth and Chloë Grace Moretz. The movie based on Dario Argento’s 70s classic is set in 1977 Berlin and follows a young American woman who joins a prestigious dance company, when one of the members mysteriously disappears. David Kajganich (True Story, Blood Creek) wrote the screenplay. Marco Morabito (Call Me by Your Name) and Brad Fischer (Shutter Island, Zodiac) are producing the Amazon Studios production.
Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Beguiled’ to Feature Original Music by Phoenix
The French rock band Phoenix has composed the original music for Sofia Coppola’s upcoming thriller The Beguiled. The film is written and directed by Coppola (Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides, The Bling Ring, Marie Antoinette) and stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard and Addison Riecke. The movie based on the novel by Thomas Cullinan is set during the Civil War at a Southern girls’ boarding school that has been sheltered from the outside world – until the day a wounded Union soldier is discovered nearby and taken in.
Randy Newman Scoring Noah Baumbach’s ‘The Meyerowitz Stories’
Randy Newman has recently composed the original music for Noah Baumbach’s comedy The Meyerowitz Stories. The film is written and directed by Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Greenberg) and stars Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller, Grace Van Patten, Elizabeth Marvel and Emma Thompson. The movie is based on Brian Selznick’s novel of the same title and revolves around two adult siblings contending with the influence of their aging father. Baumbach is also producing the project with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network), Lila Yacoub (While We’re Young, Frances Ha) and Eli Bush (Top Five).

EuropaCorp announced today that Alexandre Desplat is set to score the upcoming thriller Kursk. The film is directed by Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt, Far from the Madding Crowd) and stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Colin Firth, Léa Seydoux, Peter Simonischek, Max Von Sydow and Michael Nyqvist. The movie is inspired by the true story of the K-141 KURSK, a Russian flagship nuclear-powered submarine that sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea in August 2000. Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot, Thor: The Dark World) wrote the screenplay. Luc Besson (Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element) and Ariel Zeitoun (Miss Sloane, Colombiana) are producing the project.

James Newton Howard has been hired to score the upcoming dramatic thriller Detroit. The film is directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Point Break, The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) and stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie. The movie is set against the backdrop of Detroit’s devastating riots that took place over five haunting summer days in 1967. Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) wrote the screenplay.
George Fenton Scoring Susanna White’s ‘Woman Walks Ahead’
This week, George Fenton is recording his score for the upcoming drama Woman Walks Ahead. The film is directed by Susanna White (Nanny McPhee Returns, Our Kind of Traitor) and stars Jessica Chastain, Sam Rockwell, Ciaran Hinds, Michael Greyeyes, Chaske Spencer and Bill Camp.
