Lorne Balfe has composed the music for the upcoming action thriller The Hurricane Heist. The film is directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) and stars Toby Kebbell, Maggie Grace and Ryan Kwanten. The movie follows a team of tech hackers embarking on a $600 million robbery from a coastal U.S. Mint facility at the same time a Category 5 hurricane is set to strike. Cohen also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Windhauser, Jeff Dixon, Anthony Fingleton & Carlos Davis (Drop Dead Fred).

Bear McCreary Scoring ‘Tau’
Bear McCreary has recently composed the music for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Tau. The film is directed by Federico D’ Alessandro and stars Maika Monroe and Ed Skrein. The movie a woman who is held captive in a futuristic smart house and hopes to escape by breaking into the computer programs that control the house. Noga Landau wrote the screenplay. David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Man of Steel) is producing the project with Kevin Turen (The Birth of a Nation, Arbitrage, 99 Homes), Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder.
Julian Wass to Score ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’
Julian Wass has been tapped to score the upcoming indie drama The Miseducation of Cameron Post. The film is directed by Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behavior) and stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Sasha Lane, John Gallagher Jr., Forrest Goodluck and Jennifer Ehle. The movie is based on the young adult novel by Emily Danforth and tells the story of a young girl in the 1990s who is forced into a gay-conversion therapy center after she is outed and caught with her best friend. Akhavan also co-wrote the screenplay with Cecilia Frugiuele.
Danny Elfman Scoring Gus Van Sant’s ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’
Danny Elfman is reteaming with director Gus Van Sant on the upcoming biographical drama Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot. The film is written and directed by Van Sant and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Jonah Hill and Jack Black. The movie tells the story of quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan who became paralyzed following a car accident at the age of 21 and turned to art as a form of therapy, drawing by clutching a pen between his two hands.
Federico Jusid to Score ‘Escobar’
Federico Jusid has been hired to score the upcoming crime drama Escobar. The film is directed by Fernando León de Aranoa (Mondays in the Sun, A Perfect Day) and stars Javier Bardem in the title role, alongside Penelope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie tells the true story of the notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and focuses on an unlikely love affair with his polar opposite, a glamorous television host named Virginia Vallejo. León de Aranoa also wrote the screenplay based on Vallejo’s book Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar.
John Swihart Scoring Andrew Fleming’s ‘Ideal Home’
John Swihart is composing the music for the upcoming comedy drama Ideal Home. The film is written and directed by Andrew Fleming (Dick, The Craft, Hamlet 2) and stars Paul Rudd, Steve Coogan and Jake McDorman. The movie follows a bickering gay couple whose extravagant lives are turned upside down by a new addition to the family. Gabriella Tana (Philomena, The Duchess), Maria Theresa Arida (Vamps), Maxime Remillard (Head in the Clouds), Clark Peterson (Monster, Rampart) and Aaron Ryder (Arrival, The Prestige, Mud) are producing the project.
Chris Bacon to Return for ‘Sherlock Gnomes’
Chris Bacon has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature Sherlock Gnomes. The film directed by John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) is the sequel to 2011’s Gnomeo & Juliet, which the composer co-scored with James Newton Howard. The movie’s voice cast includes Johnny Depp who lends his voice to the title character, as well as James McAvoy and Emily Blunt who reprise their characters from the original movie. The sequel follows Gnomeo & Juliet as they recruit renown detective, Sherlock Gnomes, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments.
Bruno Coulais Scoring Benoit Jacquot’s ‘Eva’
Bruno Coulais has recently recorded his score for the upcoming French psychological thriller Eva. The film is directed by Benoit Jacquot and stars Isabelle Huppert and Gaspard Ulliel. The movie is based on James Hadley Chase’s novel of the same name and centers on a playwright who encounters a mysterious woman when he takes shelter in a chalet during a violent snowstorm. Jacquot also co-wrote the screenplay with Gilles Tauran (Thieves) for the EuropaCorp, Macassar and Arte France Cinema production.
‘Blade Runner 2049’ to Feature Music by Hans Zimmer
Hans Zimmer is currently scoring Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049. While we first heard of the composer’s involvement in the project back in May, Villeneuve clarified in a recent interview with Studio Cine Live that the composer is collaborating with Benjamin Wallfisch on the score and the theme written for the movie by the film’s original composer Johann Johannsson who is still involved in the project will be used in the score. The sci-fi thriller starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto takes place thirty years after the events of the first film and follows a new blade runner who unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (Green Lantern) have written the screenplay.
Matthew Herbert Scoring Sebastian Lelio’s ‘Disobedience’
Matthew Herbert has recently composed the music for the upcoming romantic drama Disobedience. The film is directed by Sebastian Lelio (Gloria, Christmas) and stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Naomi Alderman and follows a woman who returns to her Orthodox Jewish home after learning about the death of her estranged father and stirs up controversy when she shows an interest in an old childhood friend. Lelio also wrote the screenplay with Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Ida).
