Paul Mills is reteaming with directors Jon & Andrew Erwin to score the upcoming faith-based drama I Can Only Imagine. The film starring Dennis Quaid, Cloris Leachman, Priscilla Shirer, Madeline Carroll and J. Michael Finley tells the true story of Bart Millard, the lead singer of the Christian band MercyMe, and how he wrote what is now the most-played radio single in Christian music history. Kevin Downes, Cindy Bond and Daryl Lefever are producing the project.

Bear McCreary to Score Scott Speer’s ‘Break My Heart 1000 Times’
Bear McCreary is currently scoring the upcoming supernatural romantic thriller Break My Heart 1000 Times. The film is directed by Scott Speer (Step Up Revolution, Midnight Sun) and stars Bella Thorne, Dermot Mulroney and Richard Harmon. The movie based on the novel by Daniel Waters is set after a cataclysmic event that has allowed ghost-like beings named Remnants to co-exist with the living and revolves around a Remnant who threatens the life of a young woman, propelling her on an adventure. Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift, Pan) wrote the screenplay.
Ceiri Torjussen Scoring ‘Pistorius’
Ceiri Torjussen is scoring the upcoming documentary Pistorius. The film is directed by Vaughan Sivell (Prevenge, Third Star) and follows the rise and fall of Oscar Pistorius, the inspiring, Olympic hero turned convicted murderer who made history by becoming the first double-amputee sprinter to compete in the Olympics. Sivell is also producing the project with Sean Richard for Western Edge Pictures, and the Gennaker Group. Torjussen previously scored Sivell’s directorial debut, Mr Calzaghe, as well as the feature The Canal, which Sivell co-produced.
Christophe Beck Scoring Nash Edgerton’s ‘Gringo’
Christophe Beck has composed the original score for the upcoming thriller Gringo. The film is directed by Nash Edgerton (The Square) and stars David Oyelowo, Joel Edgerton, Charlize Theron, Paris Jackson, Amanda Seyfried, Yul Vazquez, Thandie Newton and Sharlto Copley. The movie follows an American businessman with a stake in a pharmaceutical company that’s about to go public who finds his life is thrown into turmoil by an incident in Mexico. Anthony Tambakis (Warrior) and Matt Stone (Intolerable Cruelty) wrote the screenplay.
Elliot Goldenthal Scoring Ritesh Batra’s ‘Our Souls at Night’
Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Interview with the Vampire, Heat, Alien 3) has recently composed the music for the upcoming romantic drama Our Souls at Night. The film is directed by Ritesh Batra (The Sense of an Ending, The Lunchbox) and stars Jane Fonda, Robert Redford, Matthias Schoenaerts, Judy Greer, Iain Armitage and Bruce Dern. The movie is based on a novel by Kent Haruf and and follows a widow who tries to make a connection with her Colorado neighbor, a widower. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber (The Fault in Our Stars, (500) Days of Summer) adapted the novel for the screen.
Mychael Danna to Score ‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’
Mychael Danna has signed on to score the upcoming biographical drama The Man Who Invented Christmas. The film is directed by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) and stars Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens, Christopher Plummer as Scrooge and Jonathan Pryce as Dicken’s father. The movie is based on Les Standiford’s book and recounts how Charles Dickens created his iconic A Christmas Carol. Susan Coyne (Mozart in the Jungle) wrote the screenplay. Robert Mickelson and Ian Sharples are producing the project.
Andrew Lockington to Score ‘Time Freak’
Andrew Lockington has been tapped to score the upcoming romantic comedy Time Freak. The film is written and directed by Andrew Bowler and stars Asa Butterfield, Sophie Turner, Skyler Gisondo, Will Peltz, Aubrey Reynolds and Jillian Joy. The movie based on Bowler’s Oscar-nominated short of the same title follows a brilliant physics student who decides to build a time machine after his girlfriend breaks up with him. Ray Mansfield is producing the project for QC Entertainment, alongside Matthew Rhodes (Southland Tales, The Voices) for Rhodes Entertainment.
Mario Grigorov Scoring Assaf Bernstein’s ‘Look Away’
Mario Grigorov has recently recorded his score for the upcoming indie thriller Look Away. The film is written and directed by Assaf Bernstein (The Debt) and stars India Eisley, Jason Isaacs, Mira Sorvino and Harrison Gilbertson. The movie centers on a shy and reclusive 18-year-old high school girl – alienated by her parents and known as an outcast by her peers – whose only confidant is her own reflection in the mirror. Gig Kaplan, Brad Kaplan (Submerged), and Dana Lustig (Jungle) are producing the Ace in the Hole and Primary Wave Entertainment production.
Nathan Barr to Score ‘Flatliners’
Nathan Barr is scoring the upcoming sci-fi thriller Flatliners. The film is directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Dead Man Down) and stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons. The movie is based on Joel Schumacher’s 1990 feature of the same title (scored by James Newton Howard) and follows five medical students who embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife.
David Sardy Scoring David Ayer’s ‘Bright’
This week, David Sardy is recording his score for the upcoming Netflix original movie Bright at AIR Studios in London. The film is directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, Fury) and stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Happy Anderson, Kenneth Choi and Ike Barinholtz. The fantasy action thriller is set in an alternate present-day where magical creatures live among us and revolves around two L.A. cops who become embroiled in a prophesied turf battle.
