Adam Wiltzie has been tapped to score the upcoming documentary Whitney. The film directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, Touching the Void, State of Play) and takes an in-depth look at the life and career of Whitney Houston who broke more records than any other female singer in the history of popular music, with over 200 million album sales worldwide, and inspired a generation of singers from Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga to Beyoncé. The movie, which marks the first documentary to be officially authorized by Houston’s estate, is produced by Simon Chinn (Man on Wire, Searching for Sugar Man), Jonathan Chinn (LA 92) and Lisa Erspamer.

The film is directed by Michael Engler and stars Elizabeth McGovern, Haley Lu Richardson, Victoria Hill, Campbell Scott, Geza Rohrig, Blythe Danner and Miranda Otto. The movie is based on Laura Moriarty’s best-selling novel and revolves around a woman whose life is changed forever when she chaperones a young and soon to be famous Louise Brooks to New York in the early 1920s. The movie revolves around a high school senior whose quest to lose his virginity leads to a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of modern manhood. Jared Ian Goldman (Adult Beginners, Ingrid Goes West) and Nicky Weinstock are producing the project for Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films.

The film is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 2 & 3) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Mandy Moore, Golden Brooks, Skylan Brooks, Gwendoline Christie and Patrick Gibson. The movie based on Alexandra Bracken’s YA trilogy is set after a pandemic kills most of America’s children and teenagers and follows a teenage girl with telekinetic powers who escapes her camp and joins a group of teens on the run from the government.

Jon Brion has signed on to score the upcoming romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic?. The film is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, The Final Girls) and stars Rebel Wilson, Adam Devine, Liam Hemsworth, Priyanka Chopra and Betty Gilpin. The movie tells the story of a cynical woman who discovers that her life has become a romantic comedy, and she goes from sidekick to center stage. Erin Cardillo (Life Sentence), Dana Fox (Couple Retreat, How to Be Single) & Katie Silberman and Paula Pell (Sisters) wrote the screenplay.
Alexandre Desplat to Score Jacques Audiard’s ‘The Sisters Brothers’
Alexandre Desplat is set to reteam with Jacques Audiard on the upcoming noir western The Sisters Brothers. The film marks the director’s first English language feature and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, John C. Reilly and Riz Ahmed. The movie is based on Patrick deWitt’s novel of the same title and follows two brothers in 1850s Oregon who are hired to kill a prospector. Audiard also co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain. Reilly is also producing the project with Alison Dickey (Terri), Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Captain Phillips) and Rosa Attrab.

Stephen Rennicks (Room, Frank, Rebellion) has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy Birthmarked. The film is directed by Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais (Whitewash) and stars Toni Collette, Matthew Goode, Michael Smiley, Fionnula Flanagan and Suzanne Clément. The movie follows two respected scientists who decide to quit their jobs to raise three very different children and to prove that everyone has the same potential to become anything they choose. Marc Tulin wrote the screenplay based on a story by himself and Hoss-Desmarais.
Paul Haslinger Scoring Jeremy Ungar’s ‘Ride’
Paul Haslinger has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Ride. The film is written and directed by Jeremy Ungar and stars Bella Thorne, Will Brill and Jessie T Usher. The movie takes place over the course of one night in Los Angeles and follows a young woman as she hails a ride on an app unaware that she will be joined by a sociopath. Keith Kjarval (A Single Shot) and Tyler Jackson & Sefton Fincham (What They Had) are producing the Unified Pictures production.
Heather Graham’s ‘Half Magic’ to Feature New Songs by Moby
Moby has contributed several new songs to the comedy Half Magic. The film marks the directorial debut of actress Heather Graham who also stars in the movie alongside Angela Kinsey, Stephanie Beatriz, Jason Lewis, Thomas Lennon, Chris D’Elia, Molly Shannon and Johnny Knoxville. The movie also features additional music by David Schommer, composer Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins, Anchorman) and singer/songwriter Holly Miranda.
