The film is written and directed by Nia DaCosta and stars Tessa Thompson, Lily James, James Badge Dale, Luke Kirby and Lance Reddick. The movie is being described as a “modern western” and tells the story of two sisters who are driven to work outside the law to better their lives. Rachael Fung and Gabrielle Nadig (King Jack) are producing the project.

Kathryn Bostic (Dear White People, Middle of Nowhere) is set to compose the music for the upcoming indie drama Clemency. The film is written and directed by Chinonye Chukwu and stars Alfre Woodard, Aldis Hodge, Richard Schiff, Wendell Pierce and Danielle Brooks. The movie revolves around a prison warden who confronts her own psychological demons as she develops an emotional connection to the death row inmate she is scheduled to execute.
Max Richter Scoring Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s ‘Werk ohne Autor’
This week, Max Richter has been recording his score for the upcoming German period drama Werk ohne Autor. The film is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others, The Tourist) and stars Tom Schilling, Sebastian Koch, Paula Bee, Saskia Rosendahl, Oliver Masucci, Bastian Trost and Lars Eidinger. The movie is inspired by the real life of German painter Gerhard Richter and follows an artist who flees from East Germany to West Germany but is still haunted by his experiences under both the Nazi and communist dictatorships.
A.R. Rahman to Score Bollywood’s ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Remake
A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, The Hundred-Foot Journey, Couples Retreat, Million Dollar Arm) is set to compose the music for the upcoming Bollywood remake of The Fault in Our Stars. The movie marks the directorial debut of casting director Mukesh Chhabra and will star Sushant Singh Rajput. The drama produced by Fox Star Studios India is based on John Green’s novel of the same title and the 2015 movie directed by Josh Boone and starring Shailene Woodley & Ansel Elgort.
Rupert Gregson-Williams to Score James Wan’s ‘Aquaman’
Rupert Gregson-Williams has been hired to score the upcoming comic book movie Aquaman. The film is directed by James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw) and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Ludi Lin, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison, Michael Beach and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The movie is based on the DC Comics character who learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, born half-human as Arthur Curry and half-Atlantean. Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Annabelle) is producing the project.
Michael Mayer’s ‘The Seagull’ to Feature Music by Nico Muhly
Nico Muhly (The Reader, Margaret, Kill Your Darlings, Howards End) has contributed original music to the upcoming drama The Seagull. He is sharing scoring credit with Anton Sanko who was previously announced as the film’s composer. The movie directed by Michael Mayer (A Home at the End of the World) and starring Annette Bening, Saoirse Ronan, Corey Stoll, Elisabeth Moss, Brian Dennehy, Mare Winningham, Jon Tenney, Glenn Fleshler, Michael Zegen and Billy Howle is based on Anton Chekhov’s classic tragic story of eight people who fall in love with the wrong person. Stephen Karam (Speech & Debate) wrote the screenplay.
Jeff Russo to Score Peter Berg’s ‘Mile 22’
Jeff Russo has signed on to score the upcoming action thriller Mile 22. The film is directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor, Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon) and stars Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan, John Malkovich, Iko Uwais and Ronda Rousey. The movie centers on an elite American intelligence officer who, when aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country. Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) and Lea Carpenter have written the screenplay. Berg and Wahlberg are also producing the project with Stephen Levinson (Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, Contraband).

Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans have signed on to score the upcoming psychological thriller The Wolf Hour. The film is written and directed by Alistair Banks Griffin (Two Gates of Sleep) and stars Naomi Watts, Jennifer Ehle, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Emory Cohen Brennan Brown and Jeremy Bobb. The movie revolves around a formerly celebrated counter-culture figure who now lives alone in her fifth floor South Bronx apartment, having all but cut herself off from the outside world during the 1977 “Summer of Sam.”
Sergio Moure to Score ‘Feedback’
Sergio Moure has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Feedback. The film is directed by Pedro C. Alonso and stars Paul Anderson, Eddie Marsan, Richard Brake and Ivana Baquero. The movie revolves around a radio host and his team whose live broadcast is interrupted when two intruders break into their studio and must carry on with the show without ever revealing the danger they are in. Alonso has also co-written the screenplay with Alberto Marini (Sleep Tight, Retribution). Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, Unknown, The Shallows, The Commuter) & Juan Sola (Anna) are producing the project for Ombra Films, alongside Borja Pena & Emma Lustres (Cell 211, El Niño) for Vaca Films.
Peter Nashel Scoring Bill Holderman’s ‘Book Club’
Peter Nashel has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Book Club. The film marks the directorial debut of producer/screenwriter Bill Holderman (A Walk in the Woods, The Company You Keep) and stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson, Andy Garcia and Don Johnson. The movie centers on four lifelong friends in their 60s who read Fifty Shades of Grey in their monthly book club and have their lives forever changed — even though this is not the type of book they typically read. Holderman also co-wrote the screenplay with Erin Simms (Our Souls at Night).
