Theodore Shapiro confirmed in a recent interview with Next Best Picture that he will reunite with director Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents) on the currently untitled drama about disgraced former Fox News chief Roger Ailes and the women who brought him down (also known under the working title Fair and Balanced). The movie stars John Lithgow as Ailes, alongside Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron, Allison Janney, Kate McKinnon, Malcolm McDowell, Mark Duplass, Alice Eve, Alanna Ubach, Elisabeth Röhm, Spencer Garrett, Connie Britton and Ashley Greene.

Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull & Robert McDowell to Score Daniel Scheinert’s ‘The Death of Dick Long’
Andy Hull & Robert McDowell are reuniting with director Daniel Scheinert on the upcoming feature The Death of Dick Long. The film stars Michael Abbott Jr., Virginia Newcomb, Andre Hyland, Sarah Baker and Jess Weixler. Billy Chew wrote the screenplay. Scheinert is also producing the project with Jonathan Wang and Melodie Sisk (Little Sister, Social Animals). Hull & McDowell have previously scored 2016’s Swiss Army Man, which was co-directed by Scheinert and Daniel Kwan.
Shlohmo Scoring Pippa Bianco’s ‘Share’
Electronic music artist Shlohmo (aka Henry Laufer) is making his feature film scoring debut on the upcoming drama Share. The film is written and directed by Pippa Bianco and stars Rhianne Barreto, Charlie Plummer, Poorna Jagannathan, J.C. MacKenzie, Nick Galitzine and Lovie Simone. The movie is based on Bianco’s short of the same title and centers on a sixteen-year-old girl who discovers a disturbing video from a night she doesn’t remember and must try to figure out what happened and how to navigate the escalating fallout. Carly Hugo (Higher Ground, Mother of George), Tyler Byrne, Matt Parker (The Last Keepers) are producing the project.
A.R. Rahman to Reteam with Gurinder Chadha on ‘Blinded by the Light’
A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, The Hundred-Foot Journey) is reteaming with director Grinder Chadha on the upcoming British comedy drama Blinded by the Light. The film and stars Viveik Kalra, Hayley Atwell, Rob Brydon, Kulvinder Ghir, Nell Williams and Aaron Phagura. The movie is set 1987 during the austere days of Thatcher’s Britain and follows a teenager as he learns to live life, understand his family and find his own voice through the music of Bruce Springsteen. Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham, Bride & Prejudice) also co-wrote the screenplay with Sarfraz Manzoor & Paul Mayeda Berges and is producing the project with Jane Barclay and Jamal Daniel.
Alex Somers Scoring Alma Har’el’s ‘Honey Boy’
Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, Aloha, Manhattan) has been hired to score the upcoming drama Honey Boy. The film is directed by Alma Har’el (Bombay Beach) and stars Shia LaBeouf, Lucas Hedges, Noah Jupe and Maika Monroe. The movie revolves around a child TV star and his ex-rodeo clown father as they face their stormy past through time and cinema. LaBeouf also wrote the screenplay. Har’el is also producing the project with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister, Midnight Special), Daniela Taplin Lundberg (The Kids Are All Right, Hello, My Name Is Doris), Anita Gou (Assassination Nation) and Christopher Leggett (Becoming Bond).

Laura Karpman has been tapped to score the upcoming indie drama Miss Virginia. The film is directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna (What Still Remains) and stars Uzo Aduba, Matthew Modine, Vanessa Williams, Aunjanue Ellis, Niles Fitch, Nadji Jeter, Adina Porter, Amirah Vann and Michael Beasl. The movie is inspired by a true story of a struggling inner-city single mother who moves her at-risk son from his dangerous neighborhood school to a safe – but expensive – one and launches a movement in the process.
Damon Albarn’s Electric Wave Bureau Scoring Joe Cornish’s ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’
Damon Albarn’s music collective Electric Wave Bureau has composed the music for the upcoming fantasy adventure The Kid Who Would Be King. The film is written and directed by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and stars Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Dean Chaumoo, Tom Taylor, Rhianna Dorris, Angus Imrie, Rebecca Ferguson and Patrick Stewart. The movie follows a twelve-year-old British schoolboy whose everyday problems are dwarfed by his discovery of the mythical sword Excalibur. Nira Park (Baby Driver, Hot Fuzz), Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Les Miserables, Darkest Hour) are producing the Working Title and Big Talk Pictures production.

David Wingo is composing the original score for the upcoming drama The Report. The film is written and directed by Scott Z. Burns (screenwriter of Contagion, The Informant! & The Bourne Ultimatum) and stars Adam Driver, Annette Bening, Jon Hamm, Ted Levine, Maura Tierney and Michael C. Hall. The movie tells the true story of Daniel Jones, lead investigator for the US Senate’s sweeping study into the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program, which was found to be brutal, immoral and ineffective.

Max Richter is scoring the upcoming sci-fi drama Ad Astra. The film is directed by James Gray (The Lost City of Z, We Own the Night, The Immigrant) and stars Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. The movie follows a man who journeys across the solar system in search of his missing father, a dangerous renegade scientist. Gray also co-wrote the screenplay with Ethan Gross.
