Lorne Balfe has begun recording his score for the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Gemini Man. The film is directed by Ang Lee (Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and stars Will Smith, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen and Benedict Wong. The movie centers on an elite assassin who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move.

Ian Hultquist Scoring Zak Hilditch’s Netflix Movie ‘Rattlesnake’
Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, A-X-L, Animals, My Blind Brother, The Gospel According to André) is scoring the upcoming Netflix original movie Rattlesnake. The film is written and directed by Zak Hilditch (1922, These Final Hours) and stars Carmen Ejogo, Theo Rossi and Emma Greenwell. The psychological thriller follows a single mother who accepts the help of a mysterious woman after her daughter is bitten by a rattlesnake and finds herself forced to pay back her “debt” by taking the life of a total stranger in the rural town of Tulia, Texas. Ross Dinerstein (The Pact, 6 Balloons, The Innocent Man) is producing the project for Campfire.
Larry Groupé to Reteam with Rod Lurie on ‘The Outpost’
Composer Larry Groupé is reuniting with director Rod Lurie on the upcoming drama The Outpost. The film starring Scott Eastwood, Orlando Bloom, Caleb Landry Jones, Kwame Patterson and Cory Hardrict is based on Jake Tapper’s 2013 book of the same title and chronicles the true story of the 53 U.S. soldiers who battled a force of some 400 enemy insurgents in northeastern Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Paul Tamasy & Eric Johnson (The Fighter, The Finest Hours) wrote the screenplay.
Brian Tyler to Score Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’
Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Crazy Rich Asians, Avengers: Age of Ultron) is set to score the upcoming thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead. The film is written and directed by Taylor Sheridan (Wind River, screenwriter of Sicario & Hell or High Water) and stars Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Tyler Perry, Jon Bernthal, Finn Little, Jake Weber, Aidan Gillen and Medina Senghore. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Michael Koryta and revolves around a teenage boy who, after witnessing a brutal murder, is given a new identity and placed in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens as he is being pursued by said killers.
Mark Isham Scoring Disney’s ‘Togo’
Mark Isham is composing the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Togo. The film is directed by Ericson Core (Point Break) and stars Willem Dafoe, Thorbjorn Harr and Michael Gaston. The adventure drama is set in 1925 during what the Nome Serum Run, when dog sleds transported diphtheria serum over nearly 700 miles to save Nome, Alaska, from an epidemic, and centers on the unlikely friendship between sled dog Togo and his driver. Tom Flynn (Gifted) wrote the screenplay. Kim Zubick (The Zookeeper’s Wife) is producing the project.
H. Scott Salinas Scoring Channel 4’s ‘Baghdad Central’
H. Scott Salinas (A Private War, The Ballad of Lefty Brown, Cartel Land, Birth of the Dragon) is scoring the upcoming Channel 4 series Baghdad Central. The show is created by Stephen Butchard (The Last Kingdom, The Child in Time) based on the novel of the same title by Elliot Cola and stars Waleed Zuaiter, Bertie Carvel, Clara Khoury, Leem Lubany, July Namir, Neil Maskell and Corey Stoll. The 6-part crime thriller is set in 2003 Baghdad after Saddam Hussain has fallen and the Coalition forces want to secure the country and centers on a group of ordinary occupied Iraqi citizens.
Geoff Zanelli to Score Deon Taylor’s ‘Black and Blue’
Composer Geoff Zanelli is reteaming with director Deon Taylor on the upcoming thriller Black and Blue. The film starring Naomie Harris, Frank Grillo, Mike Colter, Nafessa Williams, Reid Scott, Beau Knapp, James Moses Black, Frankie Smith and Tyrese Gibson follows a rookie New Orleans cop who rounds the corner just as corrupt narc officers are murdering a drug dealer, an event captured by her body cam. Peter A. Dowling (Flightplan) wrote the screenplay. Sean Sorensen (Mayhem) is producing the project.
Joseph LoDuca Scoring Netflix’s ‘Mr. Iglesias’
Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Ash vs Evil Dead) is the composer of the new Netflix original series Mr. Iglesias. The show is created by Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing) and stars Gabriel Iglesias, Sherri Shepherd, Jacob Vargas, Oscar Nuñez, Maggie Geha, Cree Cicchino, Richard Gant and Coy Stewart. The comedy centers on a high school teacher who tries to make a difference in the lives of some smart but underperforming students at his alma mater.
Joseph Shirley & Ludwig Goransson to Score Kitao Sakurai’s ‘Bad Trip’
Joseph Shirley & Ludwig Goransson have been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Bad Trip. The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show) and stars Eric Andre, Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish. The movie follows two best friends who go on a cross-country road trip full of inventive pranks, pulling its real-life audience into the mayhem. Andre co-wrote the screenplay with Sakurai and Dan Curry and is also producing the project with Jeff Tremaine (Jackass: The Movie, Bad Grandpa), Dave Bernad (Brad’s Status, Superstore) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad).
‘A Tuba to Cuba’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Sub Pop Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary A Tuba to Cuba. The album features the music from the film performed by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The soundtrack will be released on June 28, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Tuba to Cuba is directed by T.G. Herrington & Danny Clinch and follows New Orleans’ famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band as they retrace their musical roots from the storied city of jazz to the shores of Cuba and in turn discover a connection that runs much deeper than could have been imagined.
