Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins,Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Talladega Nights) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Netflix original movie Between Two Ferns: The Movie. The film is directed by Scott Aukerman and stars Zach Galifianakis, Ryan Gaul, Lauren Lapkus and Jiavani Linayao. The comedy is based on Funny or Die’s Between Two Ferns talk show and follows a version of Galifianakis who – together with his loyal crew – takes a road trip to complete a series of high-profile celebrity interviews in order to restore his reputation.
Rolfe Kent Scoring Tom McCarthy’s ‘Timmy Failure’
Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Wedding Crashers, Election, Legally Blonde, Up in the Air) has recently composed the music for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Timmy Failure. The film is directed by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor, The Station Agent) and stars Winslow Fegley, Ophelia Lovibond and Craig Robinson. The family comedy is based on Stephan Pastis’ novel of the same title and follows an 11-year boy who believes he is the CEO of his fictional detective agency, Total Failure, Inc. and whose goal is to become so rich his mother won’t have to stress out about the bills anymore. Pastis also wrote the screenplay. Jim Whitaker (Pete’s Dragon, A Wrinkle in Time) is producing the project.
Heather McIntosh Scoring Craig Zobel’s ‘The Hunt’
Composer Heather McIntosh is reuniting with director Craig Zobel on the upcoming political thriller The Hunt. The film’s cast includes Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Glenn Howerton, Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin and Amy Madigan. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie, which will explore escalating aggressiveness between the political right and left in America. Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus, The Leftovers) and Nick Cuse wrote the screenplay. Lindelof is also producing the project with Jason Blum (Get Out, Paranormal Activity, Insidious) for Blumhouse.

Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, Bumblebee, Anna Karenina) is set to compose the music for Matteo Garrone’s upcoming new live-action film adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio. The film is written and directed by Garrone (Dogman, Gomorrah, Tale of Tales) and stars Roberto Begnini as Geppetto, alongside Gigi Proietti as The Cat, Rocco Papaleo as The Fox and Marcello Fonte as The Parrot, as well as Federico Ielapi, Massimo Ceccherini, Matilda De Angelis, Alida Baldari Calabria, Alessio Di Domenicantonio, Maria Pia Timo and Davide Marotta.

Dustin O’Halloran & Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) have signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original movie The Old Guard. The film is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, Beyond the Lights) and stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling and Veronica Ngo. The action fantasy movie is based on the comic book series of the same title created by author Greg Rucka (who also wrote the screenplay) and illustrator Leandro Fernández and tells the story of a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed.

Jay Wadley has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix original movie I’m Thinking of Ending Things. The film is written and directed by Charlie Kaufman (Anomalisa, Synecdoche, New York) and stars Jesse Plemons, Jessie Buckley, Toni Collette and David Thewlis. The drama is based on Iain Reid’s best-selling novel of the same title and follows a man as he is going on a road trip to meet his parents on their secluded farm with his girlfriend and is thinking of terminating their relationship.
Dan Romer to Reteam with Cary Fukunaga on ‘Bond 25’
Indiewire is reporting that composer Dan Romer is set to retam with director Dan Fukunaga (True Detective, Jane Eyre) on the next, currently untitled James Bond movie. Daniel Craig returns in the title role and is joined by Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright and Ana de Armas. The film follows Bond as he has left active service, when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing the project.
Michael Abels to Score Cory Finley’s ‘Bad Education’
Michael Abels (Get Out, Us, See You Yesterday) has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy drama Bad Education. The film is directed by Cory Finley (Thoroughbreds) and stars Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney, Rafael Casal, Ray Romano, Geraldine Viswanathan and Alex Wolff. The movie follows a superintendent of the school district who works for the betterment of the student’s education while embezzling public funds to live the life he wants. Mike Makowsky (I Think We’re Alone Now) wrote the screenplay.
Johan Söderqvist Scoring Niels Arden Oplev’s ‘Daniel’
Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, After the Wedding) is composing the music for the upcoming Danish drama Daniel (Ser du månen, Daniel). The film is directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Flatliners, Dead Man Down) and stars Esben Smed in the title role, alongside Toby Kebbell, Anders W. Berthelsen (who also serves as a co-director), Sofie Torp, Christiane Gjellerup Koch, Jens Jorn Spottag and Andrea Gadegaard. The movie tells the true story of the ISIS kidnapping of Danish photographer Daniel Rye Ottosen, a freelance war photographer, who was captured by the Islamic terrorist group on May 18, 2013, and held prisoner for 13 months.
