The movie is based on Bradley Trevor Greive’s & Cameron Bloom’s bestseller of the same name and tells the true story of Sam Bloom, whose recovery from a tragic accident is helped when she and her family meet an unusual visitor. Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, John Q, Bridge to Terabithia, The Proposal, Sex and the City: The Movie) has composed a new score for the upcoming family comedy The War with Grandpa. The film is directed by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run) and stars Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Oakes Fegley, Rob Riggle, Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin and Jane Seymour. The movie is based on Robert Kimmel Smith’s bestselling book and follows a boy who is forced to move out of his room when his recently widowed grandfather moves in and devises outrageous pranks to make his grandfather surrender the room. Tom J. Astle & Matt Ember (Get Smart, Home) wrote the screenplay.
Hans Zimmer & Steve Mazzaro to Return for ‘The Boss Baby 2’
Hans Zimmer & Steve Mazzaro are returning as the composers of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming sequel The Boss Baby 2. The film is directed by Tom McCrath (Madagascar, Megamind) who helmed the first part and stars Alec Baldwin who will reprise his role as the title character. No plot details have been announced yet. Jeff Hermann is producing the movie, which is based on the book by Marla Frazee. Zimmer’s & Mazzaro’s score from the original film was released in 2017 by Back Lot Music when the movie opened in theaters.
Erick Schroder Scoring Todd Randall’s ‘Brother’s Keeper’
Erick Schroder (Astro, American Christmas, No Man’s Land) is currently scoring the upcoming sports drama Brother’s Keeper. The film is directed by Todd Randall and stars Milo Gibson, Laurence Fishburne and Glenn Morshower, as well as Bucky Covington who is also contributing original songs to the drama. The movie is based on the book of the same title by Al Pickett and Chad Mitchell and tells the true story of West Texas’ ’09 Abilene High School football team – underdogs who rally against the odds to form a family and win their state championship.

The movie is written and directed by Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes, At Any Price) and stars Adarsh Gourav, Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The drama is based on Arvind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel by the same title and follows the extraordinary journey of a self-made man from tea-shop worker in a village to successful entrepreneur in a big city. Mukul Deora is producing the project.

Lorne Balfe has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi movie The Tomorrow War. The film marks the live action directorial debut of Chris McKay and stars Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Keith Powers, Mike Mitchell, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Sam Richardson and J.K. Simmons. The movie follows a man who is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past. Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, The Ice Storm, The Good Dinosaur, The Addams Family) is currently recording his score for the upcoming drama Stillwater. The film is directed by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor, The Station Agent) and stars Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin, Camille Cottin and Deanna Dunagan. The movie revolves around a father who travels from Oklahoma to Marseille, France to help his daughter who has been arrested for murder. McCarthy also co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain (A Prophet, Rust and Bone) and Noé Debré (Racer and the Jailbird).

Composer Alberto Iglesias (The Constant Gardener, The Kite Runner, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) is reuniting with director Pedro Almodóvar on the short film The Human Voice. The movie, which marks the director’s first time shooting in English, is based original stage play by Jean Cocteau and stars Tilda Swinton. The short tells the story of a desperate woman who waits for the phone call of the lover who has just abandoned her. Agustín Almodóvar is producing the project.

The film is directed by Ian Bonhote & Peter Ettedgui (McQueen) and tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games, from the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet. This past week, Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, 11.22.63, Queen of Katwe, Touching the Void) has recorded his score for the upcoming giant screen documentary The Arctic: Our Last Great Wilderness. The movie is written and directed by IMAX producer Myles Connolly (Enchanted Kingdom) and nature photographer and cinematographer Florian Schulz and features the first-ever cinematic account of the Arctic National Wildlife refuge, situated in the northeastern corner of Alaska, the wildest place left in North America. The film follows Schulz as he tracks the Porcupine Caribou herd on the longest animal migration on earth, and witnesses pregnant female polar bears denning along the coastal plain.
