Composer Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Blade Runner 2049, Shazam!, The Invisible Woman, Annabelle Creation) is reteaming with director Theodore Melfi on the upcoming comedy drama The Starling. The film starring Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Kevin Kline, Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo, Loretta Devine, Laura Harrier, Rosalind Chao and Kimberly Quinn revolves around a married couple suffers a tragedy that strains their relationship. Matt Harris wrote the Black List-honored screenplay. Melfi (St. Vincent) is also producing the project with Limelight’s Dylan Sellers (Palm Springs, Agent Cody Banks) and Chris Parker, as well as Kimberly Quinn (El Camino Christmas). Wallfisch has previously co-scored Melfi’s 2007 drama Hidden Figures with Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams. The Starling is expected to premiere in late 2020 or early 2021 on Netflix.

As previously reported, Wallfisch also has the new film adaptation of Mortal Kombat (currently scheduled to be released in theaters on January 15, 2021) coming up.
