Netflix Music has released the first track from the soundtrack for the streamer’s upcoming original film Heartland. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is a cover version of Hailey Whitters’ Hearttland (originally written by Whitters, Nicolle Galyon & Forrest Whitehead), produced by Frank Liddell & Eric Masse and performed by lead actress Jessica Chastain feat. Heartland is directed by Shana Feste and also stars Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, John Hawkes, Ross Lynch, Paul Sparks, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz and Wynn Everett. The thriller, which follows a former country megastar who returns to Nashville to unravel the truth behind her rising-star niece’s disappearance, will premiere on November 13 exclusively on Netflix.

George Fenton (1949 – 2026)
George Fenton has passed away unexpectedly today at the age of 76. The British composer has written numerous scores for film, television, and theater over a career spanning more than four decades. He earned five Academy Award nominations, receiving nods for his original scores for Richard Attenborough’s historical epic Gandhi (shared with Ravi Shankar), Attenborough’s Cry Freedom (shared with Jonas Gwangwa), Stephen Frears’ Dangerous Liaisons, and Terry Gilliam’s The Fisher King, as well for the title song from Cry Freedom. His other notable feature film scoring credits include Harold Ramis’ Groundhog Day, Andy Tennant’s Ever After, Anna and the King & Sweet Home Alabama, Nora Ephron’s romantic comedies You’ve Got Mail & Lucky Numbers and Michael Caton-Jones’ Memphis Belle.
‘The Split Up’ Soundtrack Album Released
Department Records has released the full soundtrack album for the BBC drama The Split Up. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Nainita Desai (For Sama, The Tower, The Deepest Breath, Crossfire, The Reason I Jump, Nautilus, Funny Woman, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, Secrets of the Penguins). Also included is the main title theme (written by Desai & Jasmine Jethwa), which has previously been released as a digital single last week. The 6-parter is set in the charged world of Manchester’s high net worth divorce circuit and revolves around a powerhouse British South Asian family firm.
Federico Jusid Scoring Channel 4’s ‘Pierre’
Federico Jusid (The English, The Night Manager, Star City, A Gentleman in Moscow, A Thousand Blows, The Secret in Their Eyes, Misconduct, The Penguin Lessons, The Head) has provided the original score for the new Channel 4 drama Pierre. The show is written by Roy Williams (Fast Girls) & John Donnelly (Summerwater, The Assessment) and stars David Harewood, Michele Austin, Jason Flemyng, Dean-Charles Chapman, Christopher Fairbank, Nikkita Chadha, Sara Powell, Cherrelle Skeete, Dylan Ennis and Ezrae Maye. The 6-part series revolves around a West London duty solicitor whose resilience is tested when he begins investigating the suspicious death of a young black client.

Premiering tomorrow, October 5 is the CW drama Private Eyes West Coast created by Jennifer Kassabian & Sarah Dodd and starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson. The show’s original music is composed by Shawn Pierce (Haven, Motive, Slasher, The Bridge). The spinoff to the original 2017 Private Eyes series (scored by Pierce) follows Shade & Angie as they have left behind their P.I. firm and settled into a new life on the west coast, but their new quiet life is shaken when a night out lands them at the scene of a murder. The drama just premiered in Canada earlier this week on GLOBAL and will air in the U.S. Monday nights on The CW.
Premiering on Wednesday, October 7, is the Prime Video limited series Carrie written by Mike Flanagan based on Stephen King’s debut novel and starring Summer Howell, Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Joel Oulette, Alison Thornton, Amber Midthunder, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Josie Tota and Matthew Lillard.
