Also premiering tonight is the NBC television event Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert executive produced by Webber, Rice, Marc Platt, Craig Zadan & Neil Meron. Premiering on Tuesday, April 3, is the TBS original series The Last O.G. created by Jordan Peele & John Carcieri and starring Tracey Morgan, Tiffany Haddish, Allen Maldonado, Ryan Gaul and Cedric The Entertainer. The show’s original music is composed by Joseph Stephens (Observe and Report, Eastbound & Down, High Maintenance, Flower). The comedy, which follows a man who returns to Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant, only to find it overrun with hipster gentrification, will air Tuesday nights on TBS. Premiering on Wednesday, April 4, in the U.S. is the Channel 4 mini-series National Treasure: Kiri created by Jack Thorne and starring Sarah Lancashire, Lia Williams, Steven Mackintosh, Lucian Msamati and Felicia Mukasa. Premiering on Friday, April 6 is the Netflix original movie 6 Balloons written and directed by Marja-Lewis Ryan and starring Abbi Jacobson, Dave Franco, Jane Kaczmarek and Tim Matheson. The film’s original music is composed by Heather McIntosh (Compliance, Z for Zachariah). The movie, which follows a woman who discovers that her brother has relapsed on heroin while his 2-year old daughter is in his care, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Also premiering on Friday is the mini-series Troy: Fall of a City created by David Farr and starring Louis Hunter, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Christian Schoombie, David Gysai, David Threlfall, Lex King, Bella Dayne and Frances O’Connor. Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Horns, Populaire, Amityville: The Awakening) has composed the show’s original music. Premiering on Saturday, April 7, is the HBO original movie Paterno directed by Barry Levinson and starring Al Pacino in the title role, alongside Riley Keough, Annie Parisse, Kathy Baker and Greg Grunberg.
