Marcelo Zarvos (Wonder, Fences, The Affair, The Good Shepherd) is composing the music for the upcoming biographical drama Mapplethorpe. The film is written and directed by Ondi Timoner (Dig!, We Live in Public) and stars Matt Smith, Marianne Rendón, John Benjamin Hickey, Brandon Sklenar, McKinley Belcher III and Mark Moses. The movie tells the story of art-school dropout Robert Mapplethorpe who quickly became the enfant terrible of the photography world as the downtown counterculture of 1970s New York reached its zenith. Timoner is also producing the project with actress Eliza Dushku, Nathaniel Dushku and Richard J. Bosner.

Marcelo Zarvos Scoring Michael Engler’s ‘The Chaperone’
Marcelo Zarvos is composing the original score for the upcoming period drama The Chaperone. The film is directed by Michael Engler and stars Elizabeth McGovern, Haley Lu Richardson, Victoria Hill, Campbell Scott, Geza Rohrig, Blythe Danner and Miranda Otto. The movie is based on Laura Moriarty’s best-selling novel and revolves around a woman whose life is changed forever when she chaperones a young and soon to be famous Louise Brooks to New York in the early 1920s. Julian Fellowes (Downtown Abbey, Gosford Park) has written the screenplay.

Marcelo Zarvos to Score Robin Bissell’s ‘The Best of Enemies’
Marcelo Zarvos is composing the music for the upcoming drama The Best of Enemies. The film marks the directorial debut of executive producer Robin Bissell (The Hunger Games) and stars Sam Rockwell, Taraji P. Henson, Babou Ceesay, Nick Searcy, Anne Heche, Wes Bentley and John Gallagher Jr. The movie centers on civil rights activist Ann Atwater who battled KKK leader C.P. Ellis for a decade until 1971, when the two agreed to co-chair a two-week community meeting to deal with a court-ordered school desegregation decree.
‘Wonder’ Soundtrack Details
The full details of the soundtrack album for Stephen Chobsky’s Wonder have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, The Good Shepherd, The Affair, Enough Said, Ray Donovan). Also included is the original song Darker written for the film and performed by Hannah Faye (listen to the track, which will be available to download tomorrow, after the jump), as well songs by The White Stripes, Natalie Merchant, Butterfly Boucher and Passion Pit. Marcelo Zarvos to Score Nicole Holofcener’s ‘The Land of Steady Habits’
Marcelo Zarvos is reuniting with director Nicole Holofcener on the upcoming comedy drama The Land of Steady Habits. The film is written and directed by Holofcener and stars Ben Mendelsohn, Edie Falco, Connie Britton and Thomas Mann. The movie is based on the novel by Ted Thompson and centers on a man in his fifties who implodes in the middle of affluent Connecticut life by leaving his wife. When he realizes he’s made a mistake, he tries to redeem his personal and professional missteps. Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher, Begin Again) and Stefanie Azpiazu are producing the project for Likely Story.

Marcelo Zarvos has signed on to score the upcoming drama Wonder. The film is directed by Steven Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and stars Jacob Tremblay, Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, Noah Jupe, Bryce Gheisar, Izabela Vidovic, Danielle Rose Russell, Millie Davis, Elle McKinnon, Daveed Diggs and Mandy Patinkin. The movie is based on the book of the same title by R.J. Palacio and centers on a young boy born with a facial deformity who is destined to fit in at a new school, and to make everyone understand he’s just another ordinary kid. Jack Thorne (How I Live Now, A Long Way Down) and Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) wrote the screenplay.
