IM Global will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Fifty Shades of Black. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Skrilla Kones feat. Icy Black, Mr. Classic, Jordyn Kane, Love Kelli, Leo Soul feat. West West, Gorgeous George and chief waKiL. Also included is a suite from the movie’s original score composed by Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed, The Last Ship, When a Stranger Calls). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Fifty Shades of Black is directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) and stars Marlon Wayans, Kalli Hawk, Affion Crockett, Fred Willard, Mike Epps, Andrew Bachelor, Jane Seymour and Florence Henderson.

Jim Dooley Scoring ‘Fifty Shades of Black’
Jim Dooley is composing the score for the upcoming comedy Fifty Shades of Black. The movie is directed by Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) and stars Marlon Wayans, Kalli Hawk, Affion Crockett, Fred Willard, Mike Epps, Andrew Bachelor, Jane Seymour and Florence Henderson. The film is a parody of this year’s hit drama Fifty Shades of Grey and E.L. James’ novel of the same title. Wayans has also written the screenplay with Rick Alvarez (White Chicks, Littleman, Dance Flick). Both are also producing the IM Global and Baby Way production. Fifty Shades of Grey will be released nationwide on January 29, 2016 by Open Road Films.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action comedy Pixels directed by Chris Columbus and starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Brian Cox. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Big Hero 6, X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph). Also opening wide is the boxing drama Southpaw directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Naomie Harris, Oona Laurence and Rita Ora. James Horner (Avatar, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind) composed his last film score for the film, which is also dedicated to the composer. Jeff Russo, Sean Callery, Fil Eisler & More to Discuss TV Music at SCL Events
Tonight, the SCL (Society of Composers & Lyricists) will be hosting the composer panel Composing Combos. The event will feature a conversation with Jeff Russo (Fargo, Power, CSI: Cyber) & cellist Zoë Keating who have co-scored the first season of A&E’s The Returned, as well as James Levine (Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story) & Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed) who are co-scoring the TNT hit series The Last Ship. Both combos will discuss the unique process of combining creative visions while working together to score television shows.

Premiering on Friday, September 12, is the Syfy original series Z Nation created by Karl Schaefer and starring Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, Michael Welch, Kellita Smith and Anastasia Baranova. Jason Gallagher who is best known as a member of the rock band Leroy Justice is composing the show’s original score. Z Nation takes place there years after a zombie virus has gutted the country and follows a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Lifetime’s ‘Deliverance Creek’ to Feature Music by Jim Dooley
Jim Dooley has recently scored the Lifetime original movie Deliverance Creek. The drama marks the television debut of author Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John, Message in a Bottle) and stars Lauren Ambrose, Wes Ramsey, Yaani King, Caitlin Custer, Christopher Backus, Riley Smith, Katherine Willis and Christopher Baker. The film directed by Jon Amiel (Entrapment, Copycoat, The Core) takes place at the end of the Civil War and centers on a mother of three who attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary. Melissa Carter (Little Black Book) has written the script script and is also executive producing the project with Sparks and Theresa Park (The Best of Me).

Premiering tonight on Lifetime is the television movie Kristin’s Christmas Past directed by Jim Fall and starring Shiri Appleby, Will Kemp, Elizabeth Mitchell, Judd Nelson, A. J. Langer, Hannah Marks, Michael James-Olsen, Debby Ryan, Courtney Henggeler and Deniz Akdeniz. Michael Levine(Cold Case, Close to Home) has composed the film’s original score. The drama follows woman estranged from her family who goes to sleep alone on Christmas Eve and wakes up Christmas morning seventeen years into her past to relive the worst Christmas of her life. ’10 Cent Pistol’ to Feature Music by Jim Dooley
Jim Dooley has signed on to score the noir thriller 10 Cent Pistol. The film is written and directed by Michael C. Martin and stars Jena Malone, JT Alexander, Damon Alexander, Joe Mantegna, Adam Arkin, Jessica Szohr, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Emilio Rivera and Haylie Duff. The movie tells the story of two brothers and lifelong criminals who maneuver through the shady underbelly of Los Angeles and a struggling actress who gets caught up in the brothers’ crimes. JT and Damon Alexander are also producing the Route 17 Entertainment production with Matt Tauber and Andy Hyde. The project marks the directorial debut of Martin who has written the screenplay for the 2009 thriller Brooklyn’s Finest starring Richard Gere, Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke.
Video Game Soundtrack Roundup (November 2012)
A couple of soundtracks for major video game titles have recently been announced:
Available now from Ubisoft Music is the soundtrack album for Assassin’s Creed III. The album features the game’s music composed by Lorne Balfe (Megamind, The Dilemma) who previously co-scored last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations with Jesper Kyd. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Assassin’s Creed III has just been released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier this week and a Wii and Microsoft Windows version is coming out in November. While no major network shows will be premiering this coming week, NBC will air the pilot for Mockingbird Lane on Friday. The reboot of the classic CBS sitcom The Munsters is written by Bryan Fuller and directed by Bryan Singer. The one-hour special stars Jerry O’Connell as family patriarch Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. Cheyenne Jackson, Mason Cook, Charity Wakefield and Beth Grant are also starring in the pilot. Jim Dooley who previously worked with Fuller on the critically acclaimed series Pushing Daisies has scored the pilot.
