Weekly TV Music Roundup (March 16, 2025)
Premiering on Wednesday, March 19, is the Hulu limited series Good American Family created by Katie Robbins and starring Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, Imogen Faith Reid, Sarayu Blue, Dulé Hill, Jenny O’Hara and Christina Hendricks. The show’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, The Equalizer 3, The Affair, Wonder, May December, Ray Donovan, The Good Shepherd, Emancipation). Hollywood Record will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on Friday, March 21. Premiering on Thursday, March 20, is the Netflix limited series The Residence created by Paul William Davies and starring Uzo Aduba, Giancarlo Esposito, Randall Park, Molly Griggs, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Ken Marino, Jason Lee, Edwina Findley and Al Mitchell. Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Lego Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) has composed the show’s original music. ‘O’Dessa’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Hollywood Records and Searchlight Pictures have announced the official soundtrack album for the rock opera O’Dessa. The album features thirteen original songs written and produced by the film’s writer and director Geremy Jasper (Patti Cake$) with Jason Binnick and performed by lead actors Sadie Sink and Kelvin Harrison Jr., with additional performances by Pokey LaFarge, Bree Elrod, Murray Barlett and Emily Forsythe. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 14 (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). O’Dessa is set in a post-apocalyptic future and follows a farm girl on an epic quest to recover a cherished family heirloom whose journey leads her to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love.
Hulu’s ‘Deli Boys’ to Feature Score by Wendy Wang and Theme by Abdullah Saeed
Wendy Wang (American Born Chinese, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., Clipped, Man Up) has provided the original score for Onyx Collective’s new Hulu original series Deli Boys. The show is created by Abdullah Saeed (who also composed the series’ theme song), developed by Jenni Konner (Girls, Welcome to Chippendales) & Nora Silver (Single Drunk Female) and stars Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh, Poorna Jagannathan, Brian George and Alfie Fuller. The comedy follows a a pair of pampered Pakistani American brothers who lose everything when their father suddenly dies and are forced to reckon with their his secret life of crime as they attempt to take up his mantle in the underworld.
‘A Thousand Blows’ Soundtrack Album Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the British Disney+/Hulu original series A Thousand Blows have been revealed. The album features selection of the show’s original music composed by Federico Jusid (The Secret in Their Eyes, A Gentleman in Moscow, Misconduct, The English, Watership Down, Life Itself, The Head). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 28 by Hollywood Records (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). The composer’s opening titles track has previously been released as a digital single last week. A Thousand Blows is created by Steven Knight and stars Malachi Kirby, Erin Doherty, Stephen Graham, James Nelson-Joyce, Francis Lovehall, Jason Tobin, Hannah Walters, Darci Shaw and Daniel Mays. The 6-part drama tells the story of two friends from Jamaica who find themselves thrust into the criminal underbelly of 1880’s London’s East End, where they meet the leader of an all-female criminal gang and run afoul of a criminal kingpin and notorious boxer.
Chanell Crichlow Scoring Hulu Documentary ‘Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna’
Chanell Crichlow (My Fake Boyfriend, Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara, The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring) has recently scored the upcoming Hulu original documentary Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna. The film is directed by Rachel Mason (Circus of Books, An Update on Our Family) and takes viewers inside the fateful day in 2021, when Alec Baldwin’s prop gun fired a live bullet on the set of the western Rust, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The movie weaves together the accounts of those who were on the set that day and of those who are still navigating the trauma of the aftermath.
‘Spartans: A True Story’ (‘Espartanos’) Soundtrack Album Released
Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album for the Argentinian Disney+/Hulu documentary series Spartans: A True Story (Espartanos: Una historia real). The show is created by Katie Robbins (Sunny) and stars Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, Imogen Faith Reid, Christina Hendricks, Dulé Hill, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara. The drama revolves around a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism, but as they begin to raise her alongside their biological children, mystery emerges around her background and age, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is.
