Harmonia Mundi has announced the release of Montage – Great Film Composers and the Piano. The album features the piano works composed by six major film composers and performed by pianist Gloria Cheng. Among the pieces are original compositions by John Williams (Star Wars, E.T.), Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost) and Randy Newman (Toy Story, The Natural) who composed a piece in homage to Alfred, Emil and Lionel Newman, as well as Bruce Broughton (Silverado) and Don Davis (The Matrix). Also included is a piece from Alexandre Desplat‘s Trois Études (originally written for pianist Lang Lang). Craig Safan’s Expanded ‘The Last Starfighter’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1984 sci-fi classic The Last Starfighter directed by Nick Castle and starring Lance Guest, Dan O’Herlihy, Robert Preston and Catherine Mary Stewart. The album features the complete score from the film composed and conducted by Craig Safan (Cheers, Stand and Deliver, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master), including previously unreleased music. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere commercial soundtrack release for the 1988 crime thriler The Presidio directed by Peter Hyams and starring Sean Connery, Mark Harmon and Meg Ryan. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Tombstone, Young Sherlock Holmes, Lost in Space). Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1989 romantic comedy Her Alibi directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) and starring Tom Selleck, Paulina Porizkova and James Farentino. The album features the film’s complete original score composed and conducted by Georges Delerue (Platoon, Steel Magnolias, Twins), including music deleted from the picture, as well as the composer’s own original source music. John Ottman, Michael Price, Peter Golub & Bruce Broughton to Attend Transatlantyk Festival Poznań
Composers John Ottman (The Usual Suspects, X-Men: Days of Future Past), Michael Price (Sherlock, Horrid Henry: The Movie), Peter Golub (Frozen Rivers, The Great Debaters) and Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Young Sherlock Holmes, Tombstone) will be attending the 4th Annual Transatlantyk Festival Poznań. The international film and music festival will begin on August 8, 2014 in Poznan, Poland and will showcase film and music from all around the world, presenting both legendary and new artists’ work. The participating composers will sit on the jury of the international composition competition held at the Festival, and Broughton will lead master classes and meetings with the authors moderated by film music journalist Tim Burden.

Bruce Broughton’s Complete ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1985 mystery adventure Young Sherlock Holmes directed by Barry Levinson, written by Chris Columbus, presented by Steven Spielberg and starring Nicholas Rowe. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Lost in Space, Rescuers Down Under). The 2-CD set features the entire 90-minutes score, as well as several alternates and “extras”. The original 1986 soundtrack album only featured a little over half an hour of the composer’s score. ‘Alone Yet Not Alone’ to Feature Original Song by Bruce Broughton
Bruce Broughton has composed the original song Alone Yet Not Alone for the upcoming 1700s-set drama of the same name. The Academy Award-nominated composer collaborated with Emmy nominee Dennis Spiegel who wrote the lyrics for the song, which is performed by author and radio host Joni Eareckson Tada.The song is a recurring theme throughout the film and plays a major role in the storyline. Broughton whose best known film scoring credits include Silverado, Young Sherlock Holmes and Rescuers Down Under and Spiegel previously collaborated together on a number of commissioned chorale works. Alone Yet Not Alone based on the novel by Tracy Leininger Crave is directed by Roy Bengston and follows the capture of two sisters by Native Americans prior to the French Indian. William Ross has composed the film’s score.
Complete ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ Soundtrack Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete soundtrack for the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s directed by Blake Edwards and starring Katherine Hepburn, George Peppard, Patricia Neal and Mickey Rooney. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Henry Mancini (The Pink Panther). The score was previously only available as a re-arranged version on an LP version from RCA. The album also features the Academy Award-winning song Moon River performed by Hepburn, as well as a number of bonus tracks, including alternate versions of the song.
