Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack EP for the BBC Earth documentary Meerkat: A Dynasties Special. The 4-track EP features selections of the original music from the special composed by Benji Merrison & Will Slater (One Strange Rock, Africa, Planet Earth Live). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. A full soundtrack album will be announced soon. The label has previously released the composers’ score from the original 2018 Dynasties series. Meerkat: A Dynasties Special is produced and directed by Emma Napper and follows a young meerkat queen living in the harsh beauty of the Makgadikgadi salt pans who must unite her family in the face of rivals, predators and immense dust storms.

Sarah Warne to Score BBC’s ‘Time’ & Channel 5’s ‘The Drowning’
Sarah Warne has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC drama Time. The show is written by Jimmy McGovern (Broken, The Street, Accused) and stars Stephen Graham, Sean Bean, Siobhan Finneran, Sue Johnston, Hannah Walters, David Calder, Nadine Marshall, Michael Socha, Aneurin Barnard and Jack McMulllen. The 3-part series follows a teacher, husband and father, who killed an innocent man in an accident, as he accepts and even welcomes his four-year sentence.
‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’ Soundtrack Released
Magic Light Pictures has released a soundtrack album for the animated short Zog and the Flying Doctors. The album features the original music from the holiday special composed by René Aubry (The Gruffalo, The Bears’ Famous Invasion, The Snail and the Whale, The Highway Rat) who previously scored the 2018 original Zog short. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Zog and the Flying Doctors is directed by Sean Mullen and features the voices of Sir Lenny Henry as the narrator, Hugh Skinner, Tracey Ullman, Patsy Ferran and Kit Harington.
‘A Perfect Planet’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Sony Classical has announced a soundtrack album for the BBC Earth docu-series A Perfect Planet. The album features the show’s original music composed by Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, The Young Victoria, Still Alice, Layer Cake, Shaun the Sheep Movie, Coriolanus) and performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra and SinfoniaNord. The soundtrack will be released on January 8, 2021 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first single will be coming out on January 1. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life, The Crown, Home, Genius). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Sunday, December 20 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. The label has previously released two concept albums featuring the composer’s principal themes from Season 1 & Season 2 and a full separate album featuring his score from the first season. The album features the show’s original music composed by David Schweitzer (Emma, Wonders of Life, Inside North Korea’s Dynasty, Charlie & Lola). The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty is directed by Jamie Roberts and tells the story of Rupert Murdoch’s influence on world events and the dramatic personal battle for power at the heart of his own family.
