La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1980 romantic drama Somewhere in Time directed by Jeannot Szwarc and starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour and Christopher Plummer. The album features the expanded and remastered original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner John Barry (Dances with Wolves, Goldfinger, Out of Africa, Body Heat, The Man with the Golden Gun, Octopussy). The soundtrack features previously unreleased score cues and additional music, including the music box arrangement of Rachmaninoff Rhapsody, Barry’s original music for Elise’s stage show & more. National Theatre will release a soundtrack album for the organization’s film production of Romeo & Juliet. The album features the drama’s original music composed by Michael Bruce. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 6 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Romeo & Juliet is directed by Shakespeare Theatre Company Artistic Director Simon Godwin, adapted for television by Emily Burns and stars Jessie Buckley, Josh O’Connor, Tamsin Greig, Fisayo Akinade, Adrian Lester, Lucian Msamati and Deborah Findlay. The filmed version of William Shakespeare’s classic play about two young lovers who strive to transcend a world of violence and hate was shot last year over the course of three weeks at National’s Lyttelton theater. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1987 neo-western Extreme Prejudice directed by Walter Hill and starring Nick Nolte, Powers Boothe, Michael Ironside, María Conchita Alonso, Rip Torn, William Forsythe, and Clancy Brown. The album features the complete and remastered original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Total Recall, Planet of the Apes, Poltergeist, Chinatown, Patton), including previously unreleased music. Composer Clinton Shorter (District 9, Pompeii, The Expanse, ContrabandColony) is reuniting with director Joe Carnahan (Narc, The Grey, The A-Team) on the upcoming action thriller Copshop. The film starring Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, Ryan O’Nan, Kaiwi Lyman-Mersereau and Toby Huss follows a wily con artist who is on the run from a lethal assassin and devises a scheme to hide out inside a small-town police station, where an unsuspecting rookie cop finds herself caught in the crosshairs. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (Rocks, Censor, Only YouTiger Orange). The Forgotten Battle is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen and stars Gijs Blom, Susan Radder, Jamie Flatters and Tom Felton. The film marks the directorial debut of producer Kevin Frakes (Hereditary, Laggies) and will star Sebastian de Souza, Tom Hollander, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Jordi Molla, Youssef Kerkour and Ashraf Barhom. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Paulo Coelho and tells the story of a young Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago on an epic quest for life-changing treasure. Today, BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc) announced its 37th annual Film, TV & Visual Media Awards celebrating the top-performing composers in film, TV and visual media of the previous year. Among the honorees, which were revealed across BMI’s social media and digital platforms, are Atli Örvarsson who received six awards for NBC’s Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and Chicago Fire, CBS’ FBI and FBI: Most Wanted, and the Apple TV+ limited series series Defending Jacob, Mark Mothersbaugh who was honored with five BMI Awards for Bravo’s Dirty John, FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, Netflix’s Tiger King and the features The Willoughbys and The Croods: A New Age, as well as Mark Isham who earned four crystals this year for his work on the movies Judas and the Black Messiah, Honest Thief, Togo and the Hulu series Little Fires Everywhere.
