The details of the second soundtrack album for Marvel’s animated Disney+ series What If…? have been revealed. The album features the original music from the second episode of the show (What If…T’Challa Became a Star-Lord?) composed by Laura Karpman (Lovecraft Country, Paris Can Wait, Set It Up, Black Nativity, Why We Hate, Underground). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 23 by Hollywood Records/Marvel Music and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music outlets, including Amazon. Karpman’s music from the first episode (What If…Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?) was released earlier this month and the composer’s scores from the rest of the season will be coming out over the next couple of weeks. Premiering today is the Epix limited series Chapelwaite developed by Peter Filardi & Jason Filardi based on Stephen King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot and starring Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire. The film’s original music is composed by Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Them, Cube, The Terror: Infamy, In the Tall Grass). Also premiering today is the HBO docu-series NYC Epicenters 9/11➔2021½ directed and executive produced by Spike Lee about New York City in the 21st century. Michael Abels (Get Out, Us, Bad Education, Allen v. Farrow, See You Yesterday) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix original film Nightbooks. The movie is directed by David Yarovesky (Brightburn, The Hive) and stars Winslow Fegley, Lidya Jewett and Krysten Ritter. The movie based on the horror-fantasy children’s book of the same title by J.A. White revolves around a boy obsessed with scary stories who is trapped by an evil witch in her magical apartment and must tell a scary story every night to stay alive. Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Reminiscence written and directed by Lisa Joy and starring Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, Thandiwe Newton, Angela Sarafyan, Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira, Daniel Wu, Mojean Aria, Brett Cullen, Natalie Martinez and Nico Parker. The film’s original music is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Westworld, Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie performed by Rebecca Ferguson and Lonr. feat. Amber Mark today. Also opening wide is the animated feature PAW Patrol: The Movie directed by Cal Brunker and starring Beckett Hipkiss, Kingsley Marshall, Shayle Simons, Lilly Bartlam, Keegan Hedley, Ron Pard, Iain Armitage, Yara Shahidi, Marsai Martin, Randall Park, Dax Shepard, Kim Kardashian West, Tyler Perry, Jimmy Kimmel and Will Brisbin. Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Angry Birds Movie, Smallfoot) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a score release. 222 Records & Interscope Records have released the original song Good Mood performed Adam Levine earlier this month. Marvel Studios, Hollywood Records & Interscope Records have released the song In the Dark from the soundtrack for Marvel Studios’ feature Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The track performed by Swae Lee & Jhené Aiko is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Also listen to the full song after the jump. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Dog Gone Trouble. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jessica Rose Weiss (Cinderella, Friendsgiving, Afterlife of the Party). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 3, 2021 and is now available for pre-order here. Dog Gone Trouble is directed by Kevin Johnson and features the voice talent of Big Sean, Lucy Hale, Pamela Adlon, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Wilmer Valderrama, Joel McHale, Seth Rollins, Damon Wayans Jr., Olivia Holt, Carlos PenaVega, Betty White and Snoop Dogg.
