Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature Minions: The Rise of Gru directed by Kyle Balda and starring Steve Carell, Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Julie Andrews and Alan Arkin. The film’s original score is composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, The Angry Birds Movie, Smallfoot, The Smurfs). Decca Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by artists such as Diana Ross ft. Walt Disney Records has released the first song from the soundtrack for the Disney+/Disney Channel original movie Zombies 3. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music platforms is Alien Invasion written by Antonina Armato, Tim James, Thomas Armato Sturges & Adam Schmalholz and performed by the film’s cast. Quartet Records has release a new version of the expanded soundtrack album for the 1974 western Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Warren Oates, Isela Vega, Robert Webber, Gig Young, Emilio Fernández, Helmut Dantine and Kris Kristofferson. The album features the newly remastered complete original score from the film composed and conducted by Jerry Fielding (The Wild BunchEscape from Alcatraz, The Bad News Bears, The Gambler). Grammy Award-winning jazz drummer and composer Antonio Sanchez (Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Get Shorty, Politics, Instructions Manual) has written the original score for the new HBO original documentary series The Anarchists. The show is directed by Todd Schramke and tells the story of “Anarchapulco,” an event that was originally created as a conference held in Acapulco, Mexico, promoting the ideals of pure anarchy. The 6-parter follows individuals engaged in this movement with full access to the drama that ensues as a community tries to live alongside tourists and drug cartels with only the principles of anarchy as their guideposts. The full track list of the soundtrack album for the fourth season of the Netflix original series Stranger Things have been revealed. The album features the sixteen songs from the first volume of the Season 4 soundtrack, as well as six additional tracks from the final two episodes of the new season: Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo by Rick Derringer, Fire and Rain by James Taylor, Spellbound by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Master of Puppets by Metallica, When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die by Moby and Steve Perry’s & Bryce Miller’s extended remix of Journey’s & Steve Perry’s Separate Ways (Worlds Apart). The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by Zachary Dawes (Big Time Adolescence, The Peanut Butter Falcon, There’s Someone Inside Your House, Generation). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 1 and will be available to stream/download here. The Summer I Turned Pretty is created by Jenny Han based on her bestselling book of the same name and stars Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Christopher Briney, Rachel Blanchard, Gavin Casalegno, Colin Ferguson, Alfredo Narciso, Minnie Mills, Sean Kaufman and Tom Everett Scott. BBC announced today that Isobel Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, The Phantom of the Open, EmmaVita & VirginiaMunich: The Edge of War, Roar, Vanity Fair) has composed the original music for the upcoming animated Christmas animated special The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. The composer’s score is performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and conducted by Geoff Alexander and will be featured in the animated short based on Charlie Mackesy’s bestselling illustrated book of the same title and starring Tom Hollander, Idris Elba, Gabriel Byrne and Jude Coward Nicol. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Shadow and Bone, The Greatest Showman, The Witcher, Lady and the Tramp, Straight Outta Compton, Spiderhead) and features performances from Ojibwe powwow singer Joe Rainey Sr., violinist Lucia Micarelli, Native drum maker and singer Dylan Jennings (Bizhikiins-Young Buffalo), bluesman Leonard “Lowdown” Brown, multiethnic vocal ensemble Tonality led by conductor Alexander Blake. Also included is the main title theme (Quilt of Life) written by Trapanese and S. Carey (drummer and supporting vocalist from Bon Iver) who also produced the track.
