Sony Classical will release the new record Beyond the Screen – Film Works on Piano by Rachel Portman featuring some of the composer’s most cherished film music for solo piano. The album was recorded in Berlin, with occasional accompaniment by cellist Raphaela Gromes and consists of 20 curated pieces that span Portman’s illustrious career, arranged to form an emotional and musical journey. Among the titles included are suites from the composer’s Academy Award-winning score for Douglas McGrath’s Emma, her Academy Award-nominated scores for Lasse Hallstrom’s The Cider House Rules and Chocolat, as well as her music for Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go, Lone Scherfig’s One Day and Saul Dibb’s The Duchess. The album will be released digitally and physically on March 3, 2023 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Eduard Artemyev (1937-2022)

Eduard Artemyev has passed away at age 85. The Russian composer was best known internationally for his scores for the films of Andrei Tarkovsky, including the 1972 sci-fi classic Solaris, 1975’s Mirror and 1979’s Stalker. He also composed the music for numerous movies directed by Nikita Mikhalkov, including At Home Among Strangers, a Stranger Among His Own, A Slave of Love, Unfinished Piece for the Player Piano, Close to Eden, Burnt by the Sun, The Barber of Siberia and 12. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the ITV drama Without Sin. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Tawiah and Lindsay Wright (The Walk-In, The Whistleblowers, This Is Joan Collins, The Mystery of D.B Cooper). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Without Sin is written by Frances Poletti, directed by Al Mackay and stars Vicky McClure and Johnny Harris. The 4-part psychological thriller produced by Left Bank Pictures explores the relationship which develops between a grieving mother and the man she believes murdered her daughter. Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Grimcutty. The album features the film’s original music composed by Sara Barone (After Masks). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 30 and will be available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Emmy Award nominee Siddhartha Khosla (Only Murders in the Building, This Is Us, Runaways, Looking for Alaska, Queenpins). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 30 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon.
