Disney Music has announced the details of the second soundtrack album for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. The album features the film’s original score composed by Simon Franglen (Pandora: The World of Avatar, The Magnificent Seven, Peppermint), including eleven additional score cues not included on the official soundtrack album, which is being released today. Also included is the Zoe Saldana-performed original song The Songcord. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Tuesday, December 20 by Hollywood Records and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Avatar: The Way of Water co-written and directed by Cameron and starring Sam Worthington, Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet and Sigourney Weaver is opening in theaters nationwide this weekend. The details of the soundtrack album for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Simon Franglen (The Magnificent Seven, Pandora: The World of Avatar, Peppermint, Notre-Dame on Fire). Also included are the original songs Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength) co-written and performed by The Weeknd and The Songcord written by Franglen and performed by Zoe Saldaña. The soundtrack is being released today (a day earlier than originally announced) and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. A CD version is currently scheduled to be released on January 20 and a vinyl edition will be released in April (visit Amazon to pre-order). An expanded score release is also expected. The album features the songs from the show performed by lead actors Michael Shannon & Jessica Chastain (who star as Tammy Wynette and George Jones) and produced by T Bone Burnett & Rachael Moore. Also included is the drama’s main theme composed by David Mansfield (Transamerica, Heaven’s Gate, The Apostle).
