Premiering today is the Paramount+ original series Special Ops: Lioness created by Taylor Sheridan and starring Zoe Saldaña, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, James Jordan and Jill Wagner. The show’s original music is composed by Andrew Lockington (San Andreas, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Rampage, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Frontier). Premiering on Thursday, July 27, is the Peacock original series Twisted Metal developed by Michael Jonathan Smith based on the video game franchise and starring Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Will Arnett, Thomas Haden Church and Joe Seanoa. Leo Birenberg & Zach Robinson (Cobra Kai, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, Florida Man) have composed the show’s original music. The show is created by Jon Iver Helgaker & Jonas Torgersen and features the voice talent of Jason Ritter, Christopher Meloni, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Alejandro Edda, Anthony Carrigan, Adam Devine and Trond Fausa. The adult animated comedy follows a goofy, gullible sea captain who is hired to helm a high-end cruise ship and becomes the perfect fall guy for an illicit smuggling operation. Paramount+ announced today (as part of the Star Trek Comic-Con presentation) that Kay Hanley and Tom Polce (of the rock band Letters to Cleo) have written ten original songs for an upcoming musical episode of the streamer’s original series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The episode, entitled Subspace Rhapsody, will premiere as part of the show’s second season on August 9, 2023, and is also set to feature a special version of the series’ main title. ‘Primal’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Released

WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack album for the Adult Swim original animated series Primal. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, John Wick series, Deadpool 2, 300, Watchmen, The Punisher) & Joanne Higginbottom (Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, Criminal Minds: Evolution, Samurai Jack). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The label has previously released a first album featuring music from Season 1 back in 2020. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the fantasy comedy Barbie co-written and directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Rhea Perlman, Alexandra Shipp, Ariana Greenblatt and Michael Cera. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album (produced by Ronson) featuring the songs from the movie by artists including Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Nicki Minjaj & Ice Spice, Charli XC & others. Also opening wide is the historical thriller Oppenheimer written and directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey, Jr. and Kenneth Branagh. Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, The Mandalorian, Creed, Tenet) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. The album features the film’s original score composed by director Jeremy Zag, as well as the original songs written by Zag and featuring lyrics by Zag himself, Michael Gracey, Chris Read and Britt Burton. The soundtrack will be released in the U.S. digitally next Friday, July 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Adam Price and Peter Gregson have recently recorded their score for the upcoming psychological thriller Apartment 7A. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout & Dead Reckoning, Black Widow, Top Gun: Maverick, His Dark Materials, The LEGO Batman Movie, Black Adam) serves as the score producer of the film directed by Natalie Erika James (Relic) and starring Julia Garner, Dianne Wiest, Marli Siu and Rosy McEwen. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie, which is believed to be a prequel to Roman Polanski’s 1968 classic Rosemary’s Baby based on the novel by Ira Lewin.
