Rupert Gregson-Williams is currently scoring the upcoming comedy Jack and Jill. The project reunites the composer with director Dennis Dugan who worked with Gregson-Williams on his last four movies, most recently on the comedies Just Go With It and Grown Ups. The film stars Adam Sandler who plays both main characters in the film, Jack and Jill. Jack is a family man who is forced to deal with Jill, his twin sister from the Bronx when she comes to Los Angeles for a visit and then won’t leave. Al Pacino, Katie Holmes, Shaquille O’Neal and Dana Carvey are co-starring. Sandler is also producing through his Happy Madison Productions company. Read the rest of this entry »

It has been announced today that the official soundtrack album for the upcoming sci-fi action film Rise of the Planet of the Apes will be released by Varese Sarabande Records.  The soundtrack includes the score from the movie by composer Patrick Doyle on his second major summer blockbuster project after Thor. Varese Sarabande Records will be releasing the soundtrack album for the upcoming sci-fi action western Cowboys & Aliens. The album features the original score from the film by composer Harry Gregson-Williams. The soundtrack will be released on July 26, 2011. It has been reported that the electronic music group Hybrid has collaborated with Gregson-Williams on the score. No word yet on if any of Hybrid’s contributions will be on the album. Varese Sarabande has announced the details for the soundtrack release of the teen comedy Monte Carlo. The album includes 40 tracks of Michael Giacchino‘s original score from the film. The soundtrack will be released on June 28, 2011 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Monte Carlo is directed by Tom Bezucha (The Family Stone) and stars Leighton Meester, Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and Andie MacDowell. The movie tells the story of a girl and her best friend who travel to Paris with one girl’s future stepsister, where one of the girls is mistaken for a spoiled British heiress, which leads the girls to find themselves going on a dream vacation to Monte Carlo. Gabriel Yared is writing the score for the upcoming drama In the Land of Blood and Honey. The film marks the directorial debut of Angelina Jolie who also wrote the screenplay for the project. The movie starring Rade Serbedzija, Nikola Djuricko and Goran Kostic is set during the bloody civil war in the former-Yugoslavia in the early ’90s and tells the love story between a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the crisis has on their relationship. The movie will reportedly also feature additional music by Dado Dzihan (Dado Jehan) as Waves and Patterns. The project is produced by GK Films (The Tourist, The Town). Read the rest of this entry »

Rhino Records is set to release a soundtrack album for the romantic dramedy The Art of Getting By. The album includes three score tracks by composer Alec Puro, as well as several songs from the movie from such artists as The Shins, Earlimart, Mates of State, Delphic, Leonard Cohen, Clap Your Hand Say Yeah, The Boxer Rebellion, Pavement and French Kicks. The soundtrack will receive a physical release on June 14, 2011 (visit Amazon to pre-order the CD) and will also be available digitally on the same day. Michael Price is scoring the upcoming British 3D kids pic Horrid Henry: The Movie. The film is based on the successful children’s property by Francesca Simon and stars Anjelica Huston, Richard E. Grant, Rebecca Front, Parminder Nagra, Kimberly Walsh, Noel Fielding, Mathew Horne, Prunella Scales and Jo Brand. The movie about Horrid Henry’s ongoing battle against the tyranny of adults is directed by Nick Moore who previously collaborated with Price on the 2008 comedy Wild Child starring Emma Roberts. Horrid Henry: The Movie is produced by Vertigo Films, the company behind last year’s indie hit Monsters and Street Dance 3D. The film will be released on July 29, 2011 in the UK. Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack release for the drama Wonderful World. The album includes the original score by Craig Richey (Friends with Money, The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters) from the movie written and directed by Joshua Goldin (Darkman). John Swihart is the composer on the new ABC Family drama Switched at Birth. The show centers around two teen girls who discover that they were accidentally switched at birth. One girl grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and two brothers, while the other one, who lost her hearing as a child due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a poor neighborhood. The series is created and produced by Lizzy Weiss (Blue Crush) and stars Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Constance Marie, D.W. Moffett, Lea Thompson and Lucas Grabee. Matthew Vaughn’s comic book adaptation X-Men: First Class starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence and Rosamunde Pike is expected to top the weekend box office. The film’s music is written by Henry Jackman and a soundtrack album has been released digitally earlier this week by Sony Classical. A physical release will follow on June 28. Opening in limited release is the dramedy Beginners directed by Mike Mills and starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Melanie Laurent. The film’s score is composed by Roger Neill, David Palmer and Brian Reitzell. The movie also features a number of songs.
