Richard Horowitz is scoring the upcoming thriller Intersection. The film is written and directed by David Marconi (screenwriter of Enemy of the State) and stars Frank Grillo (The Grey, Warrior) as a newlywed husband whose wife plots his murder on their honeymoon in Morocco. Roschdy Zem (Days Of Glory) Marie-Josée Croze (The Diving Bell And The Butterfly), Charley Bewley (Twilight) and Jaimie Alexander (Thor) are also starring in the film. Luc Besson and Gareth Upton (Colombiana) are producing the film for EuropaCorp (Taken, Transporter series). Horowitz is best known for co-scoring Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday and Bernardo Bertolucci’s 1990 drama The Sheltering Sky, for which he won the Golden Globe with composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Intersection and is set to be released in France on November 28, 2012 and a release in the US is expected in 2013.

‘High School’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the teen comedy High School. The album features the film’s original score composed by The Newton Brothers (Detachment, Setup). The soundtrack has been released today and is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips from the album. High School marks the directorial feature debut of John Stalberg and stars Adrien Brody, Michael Chiklis, Sean Marquette, Matt Bush, Adhir Calyan and Colin Hanks. Paul Haslinger has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller Code Name: Geromino. The film is directed by John Stockwell and centers on the military incursion into Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan from the perspective of a small contingent of Navy SEALS. The movie stars Cam Gigandet, Xzibit, Freddy Rodriguez, Anson Mount, Kathleen Robertson, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Kenneth Miller, Robert Knepper and William Fichtner. Kendall Lampkin has written the screenplay and Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Killer Joe), Tony Mark and Zev Foreman are producing the Voltage Pictures production. Stockwell has collaborated with Haslinger on several of his movies before, including Crazy/Beautiful, Blue Crush, Into the Blue, and Turistas. The Weinstein Company has picked up domestic rights for Code Name: Geronimo. The film is currently in post-production and is awaiting a release date.

Universal Music Group will be releasing the soundtrack album for the musical comedy Pitch Perfect. The album features the songs performed by the movie’s competing a capella groups The Barden Bellas and The Treblemakers. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed and produced by Christophe Beck and Mark Kilian. Daniel Pemberton Scoring ‘Blood’

Daniel Pemberton has recently recorded his score for the British psychological thriller Blood at Abbey Road Studios in London. The project reunites the composer with director Nick Murphy who previously directed the horror thriller The Awakening starring Rebecca Hall, which is currently playing in limited release with the composer’s soundtrack out on Screamworks Records. Blood stars Paul Bettany and Stephen Graham as two cop brothers who collapse under the weight of their father’s shadow and must investigate a crime they themselves have committed. Hal David (1921-2012)

Lyricist Hal David has passed away today at age 91 in Los Angeles. The songwriter was best known for his collaborations with Burt Bacharach and has written the lyrics for numerous hit songs, including several original songs for film. He received an Academy Award for co-writing the classic song Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head from 1969’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids with Bacharach and also was honored with three more Oscar nominations in the Best Original Song category for The Look of Love from Casino Royale, Alfie from the 1966 film of the same name and the title song from 1965’s What’s New Pussycat. James Levine is the composer of the new NBC comedy The New Normal. The show is created by Ryan Murphy & Ali Adler and stars Justin Bartha, Andrew Rannells, Georgia King, Bebe Wood, NeNe Leakes and Ellen Barkin. The series follows a gay Los Angeles couple and a cash-strapped waitress who becomes a surrogate to help them have a child. Murphy has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the Twentieth Century Fox Television production with Adler and Dante Di Loreto (Glee, Temple Grandin). Levine has been working with Murphy on all of his shows since the premiere of the FX drama Nip/Tuck in 2003, including the hit shows Glee and American Horror Story, both of which will be back with new seasons this fall. Three new movies are opening wide this week:

Already in theaters since Wednesday is the gangster movie Lawless directed by John Hillcoat, based on the novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant and starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowski. The film’s music is composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis who formed the band The Bootleggers (which also includes Martyn Casey, George Vjestic and David Sardy) for the project. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring both songs and score from the movie. Check out our previous article for the full album details and audio clips. Opening wide today is the horror thriller The Possession directed by Ole Bornedal, produced by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Grant Show and Madison Davenport. Anton Sanko (Rabbit Hole, Big Love) has composed the film’s score. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. Chad Fischer is scoring the upcoming drama Chasing Mavericks. The film stars Jonny Weston as Jay Moriarty, a world champion surfer from Northern California who made his reputation surfing Mavericks north of Half Moon Bay before dying in a diving accident at age 22. Gerard Butler stars as Frosty Hesson, the local legend who took Jayunder his wing in order to train him. Taylor Handley, Elisabeth Shue and Abigail Spencer are co-starring. The true life story is directed by Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential, 8 Mile) and Michael Apted (The World is Not Enough, Nell) who took over the final weeks of production. Academy to Celebrate 50 Years of James Bond Music

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced an event to pay homage to the memorable title songs and indelible scores of the James Bond films. The Music of Bond: The First 50 Years hosted by music historian and writer Jon Burlingame will feature many of the people who made the music, including lyricist Don Black (title songs for Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun and The World Is Not Enough) and guitarist Vic Flick who played the guitar riff for the original version of the James Bond Theme.
