Kritzerland has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1986 horor sequel Poltergeist II: The Other Side directed by Brian Gibson and starring Craig T. Nelson, Jobeth Williams, Oliver Robins, Heather O’Rourke and Zelda Rubinstein. The music is composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Chinatown) who received an Oscar nomination for the original Poltergeist film. The 2-CD set features the complete film scores, as well as a number of track, including an alternate version of one of the new cues making its first appearance on the release. Premiering tonight on PBS as part of Masterpiece Theater is the British drama series Silk created by Peter Moffat and starring Maxine Peake, Rupert Penry-Jones, Neil Stuke, Tom Hughes, Natalie Dormer, Nina Sosanya and John MacMillan. The show’s original music is composed by Dru Masters. Silk follows two barristers on their journey to join the rank of Queen’s Counsel, known as ‘taking silk’. The legal drama premiered in the UK on BBC in 2011 and was renewed for a second season aired last year. PBS will air the show’s first season of six episodes. Jeff Cardoni to Score Neil LaBute’s ‘Full Circle’

Jeff Cardoni has been hired to score the upcoming TV drama Full Circle. The 10 episode series marks the television debut of filmmaker and playwright Neil LaBute (Lakeview Terrace, In the Company of Men, Nurse Betty) and examines the human condition and relationships through a series of conversations between 11 people whose lives, unbeknownst to them, are intertwined. The show’s cast includes Tom Felton, Minka Kelly, Julian McMahon, David Boreanaz, Keke Palmer, Devon Gearhart, Billy Campbell, Kate Walsh, Cheyenne Jackson, Noah Silver, Ally Sheedy and Robin Weigert. Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since this past Wednesday is the fantasy adventure The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones directed by Harald Zwart and starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Aidan Turner, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Durand and Jared Harris. Republic Records has released a soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by artists including Zedd, Jessie J, AFI and Demi Lovato. Check out our previous article for the full details. The film’s original score is composed by Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score has been released on Milan Records. ‘Justin and the Knights of Valour’ Soundtrack Announced

Sony Music will release a soundtrack album for the upcoming animated feature Justin and the Knights of Valour. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, The Young Victoria). Also included is the original song Heroes performed by Rebecca Ferguson. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on September 9, 2013. Justin and the Knights of Valour is directed by Manuel Sicilia and features the voice talent of Freddie Highmore, Saoirse Ronan, Charles Dance, Rupert Everett, Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Alfred Molina, Julie Walters, Tamsin Egerton and Olivia Williams. The movie follows an idealistic boy who is determined to become a knight in shining armor, but his magical kingdom is in painful transition to a modern age dominated by bureaucracy. Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for the heist drama Empire State. The album features the film’s original score composed by David Wittman (Fighting, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, The Son of No One). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article in a few weeks. Empire State is directed by Dito Montiel and stars Liam Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Emma Roberts, Nikki Reed, Chris Diamantopoulos, Michael Angarano, Jerry Ferrara, Shenae Grimes, Paul Ben-Victor and Greg Vrotsos. The film is set in the 80s and follows two childhood friends from Astoria, N.Y., who plan to rob an armored car depository. Michael Brook has scored the upcoming biopic Chavez. The movie is helmed by actor-turned director Diego Luna (Abel) and stars Michael Pena as Cesar E. Chavez and follows the Mexican-American labor leader as he organizes the largest non-violent protest in U.S. history to accomplish his ultimate goal of obtaining basic human rights for over 50,000 farm workers in California. America Ferrera stars as his wife, Helen Chavez and Rosario Dawson portrays Dolores Huerta who co-founded the United Farm Workers of America. Wes Bentley, Gabriel Mann, Michael Cudlitz, Jacob Vargas, Yancey Arias and Mark Moses are co-starring. Keir Pearson (Hotel Rwanda) has written the screenplay. Luna is producing the Canana Films production with Gael Garcia Bernal & Pablo Cruz (Miss Bala), alongside John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon & Russell Smith (Juno, Young Adult) for Mr. Mudd, as well as Pearson and Larry Meli. Verve International has released a second soundtrack album for the hit drama Lee Daniels’ The Butler. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Gladys Knight, James Brown, Patti Drew, The Meditation Singers, Dean Martin, Shorty Long, Fantasia, Dinah Washington, The O-Jay’s and People’s Choice. Benjamin Wallfisch has been tapped to score the BBC original movie The Thirteenth Tale. The film is based on Diane Setterfield’s novel of the same title and has been adapted for television by Academy Award-winning writer Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement, The Quiet American). The drama is directed by James Kent (The White Queen, Inside Men) and stars Vanessa Redgrave, Olivia Colman, Alexandra Roach, Robert Pugh, Gordon Winter, Sophie Turner and Antonia Clarke. The movie follows a famous novelist with failing health who enlists an amateur biographer to hear her story and ghostwrite her autobiography.
