The film is directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong) and stars Alex Pettyfer, Gabriella Wilde, Robert Patrick, Bruce Greenwood, Rhys Wakefield, Dayo Okeniyi, Emma Rigby and Joely Richardson. The movie follows a privileged girl and a charismatic boy whose instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart. Feste has co-written the screenplay with Joshua Safran (Gossip Girl, Smash). Scott Stuber (Ted, Safe House) and Pamela Abdy (Identity Thief, Garden State) of Bluegrass Films are producing the project with Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (The O.C., The Carrie Diaries) of Fake Empire. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Enough Said, Ray DonovanThe Good Shepherd). Reaching for the Moon directed by Bruno Barreto and starring Miranda Otto, Gloria Pires and Tracy Middendorf chronicles the mid-life years of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Elizabeth Bishop when she left America to live in Rio de Janeiro, where she where fell in love with architect Lota de Macedo Soares. turbo-fastThis past Tuesday, the animated series Turbo FAST premiered on Netflix. The show based on this summer’s animated feature from DreamWorks Animation is produced by Ben Kalina & Jennifer Ray and executive produced by Chris Prynoski and featuring the voices of Reid Scott and Ken Jeong who reprises his role from the feature film. Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph) and Halli Cauthery (The East) have written the show’s original score. Jackman previously the feature version of Turbo and Cauthery provided additional music. Visit Netflix to stream the series and visit the official show website to learn more about the project.

wojciech-kilarWojciech Kilar has passed away at age 81. The Polish composer was best known for his work for film, including the scores for Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, Jane Campion’s The Portrait of a Lady and three collaborations with Roman Polanski on movies including The Ninth Gate, The Death and the Maiden and The Pianist, for which he was honored with a BAFTA nomination and a Cesar Award. His other film scoring credits include James Gray’s We Own the Night, as well as numerous Polish film and TV productions. Kilar was born in 1932 and went on to study piano and composition and graduated from the State Higher School of Music in his hometown Katowice in Southern Poland. The film is directed by Jen McGowan and stars Juliette Lewis, Jonny Weston, Josh Hopkins, Cybill Shepherd and Margaret Colin. The movie centers on the relationship between a suburban-trapped mother and a wheelchair-bound young man who brings out her former self. Amy Lowe Starbin has written the screenplay and Adi Ezroni & Mandy Tagger (A Late Quartet, The English Teacher) are producing the project for Spring Pictures. monuments-menSony Music will release the official soundtrack album for George Clooney’s historical drama The Monuments Men. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Argo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) who previously composed the music for Clooney’s The Ides of March. The soundtrack will be released on February 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Monuments Men stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and John Goodman. Desplat also makes an appearance in the film, which follows an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. august-osage-countySony Classical will release a score album for the film adaptation of Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play August: Osage County. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, The Motorcycle Diaries, Babel). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. As previously reported, Columbia Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the film by Bon Iver, Kings of Leon,Eric Clapton and more, as well as selections from Santaolalla’s and Adam Taylor’s score earlier this month. August: Osage County directed by John Wells and starring Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Chris Cooper, Margo Martindale, Sam Shepard, Juliette Lewis, Julianne Nichols, Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch,  Abigail Breslin and Dermot Mulroney is now playing in select theaters and will expand nationwide next month. ‘G.B.F.’ Soundtrack Announced

g-b-fLakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the indie comedy G.B.F.. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Dragonette, Veva, Morganpage feat. Tegan and Sara, Neil Halstead, Royal Teeth, Hi Fashion and more. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 14, 2014. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. G.B.F. is directed by Darren Stein (Jawbreaker) and stars Michael J. Willett, Paul Iacono, Sasha Pieterse, Andrea Bowen, Xosha Roquemore, Joanna “JoJo” Levesque, Molly Tarlov, Megan Mullally, Rebecca Gayheart and Natasha Lyonne. Five new movies are opening nationwide this week:

walter-mittyOpening in most theaters is the fantasy comedy drama The Secret Life of Walter Mitty directed by Ben Stiller and starring himself, Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn and Sean Penn. The film’s original score is composed by Theodore Shapiro (Tropic Thunder, The Devil Wears Prada) and features vocals by Jose Gonzalez. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Click here to listen to audio clips and for more information. Shapiro has also co-written the original songs Step Out and Stay Alive with Craig Wedren. The songs performed by Gonzalez are featured on a separate soundtrack, which also includes track aby Junip, Of Monsters and Men, David Bowie and more (click here for the full details). The film doesn’t feature any original score. Theodore Shapiro composed a couple of cues for the infomercials and ads featured in the movie. Virgin Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Billy Joel, Bo Diddley, Elmore James, Eartha Kitt, Howlin’ Wolf, The Lemonheads, Cannonball Adderley and Joe Cuba. theodore-shapiroTheodore Shapiro has signed on to score the upcoming coming-of-age comedy drama St. Vincent. The movie is directed by Theodore Melfi and stars Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Chris O’Dowd, Terrence Howard and Scott Adsit. The movie follows a cranky war veteran who becomes an unlikely mentor to a 12-year-old boy whose parents have divorced. Melfi has also written the screenplay, which was black listed in 2011 under the title St. Vincent de Van Nuys. Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the ApesThe Heat) is producing the Chernin Entertainment production with Fred Roos (The Outsiders, The Black Stallion).
