Opening in most theaters is the family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day directed by Miguel Arteta and starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Ed Oxenbould, Kerris Dorsey, Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge and Bella Thorne. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring a suite from the score, as well as songs by The Vamps, Justine Dorsey, The Narwhals, Charles William and IDK & The Whatevs. Check out our previous news article for the full album details and to learn more about the film.

Also opening wide is the drama The Judge directed by David Dobkin and starring Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Billy Bob Thornton and Vincent D’Onofrio. Thomas Newman (American Beauty, Skyfall, The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo) has composed the film’s original music. Ronen Landa to Score ‘Eloise’

Ronen Landa has been tapped to write the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Eloise. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor Robert Legato (Titanic, Hugo, Apollo 13) and stars Chace Crawford, Eliza Dushku, Brandon T. Jackson, Robert Patrick and P.J. Byrne. The movie follows four friends who break into a defunct insane asylum and find that the institution not only houses a horrifying history but also the truth about their own tragic pasts. Chris Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes, Whisper) has written the screenplay. Tripp Vinson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Rite, The Number 23) and Sanford Nelson are producing the project for Slam Productions and Vinson Film. Read the rest of this entry »

John Paesano to Score Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ Series

John Paesano has been hired to score Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series Daredevil. The show based on the Marvel Comics character and stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson and Scott Glenn. The series follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, Cloverfield) and Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel) are executive producing the Marvel Television and ABC Studios with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Smallville). ‘The Theory of Everything’ Soundtrack Announced

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama The Theory of Everything. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jóhann Jóhannsson (Prisoners, McCanick). The soundtrack will be released on November 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be posted on this page soon. The Theory of Everything is directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire, Shadow Dancer) and stars Eddie Redmayne as physicist Stephen Hawkins and Felicity Jones as Jane Wilde, the arts student he fell in love with when he attended Cambridge in the 1960s. Charlie Cox, Emily Watson, David Thewlis, Lesley Manville, Simon McBurney, Maxine Peake and Harry Lloyd are co-starring in the drama, which premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. ‘At the Devil’s Door’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for Nicholas McCarthy’s horror thriller At the Devil’s Door. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ronen Landa (Cavemen, Festival of Lights) who previously scored the director’s The Pact. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 28, 2014 and physically on November 25. Audio clips will be added this article within the next couple of weeks. At the Devil’s Door stars Naya Rivera, Ashley Rickards, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Wyatt Russell and Ava Acres. ‘Love, Rosie’ Soundtrack Announced

Königskinder Records will release a soundtrack album for the romantic comedy Love, Rosie. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Elton John, Kate Nash, Elliot Smith, Peggy Lee, Gilbert O’Sullivan and more. Also included is the movie’s original score composed by Ralf Wengenmayr (Manitou’s Shoe) who who previously collaborated with the film’s director on 2011’s Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods. The soundtrack will be released overseas both physically and digitally on October 31, 2014. Love, Rosie stars Lily Collins and Sam Claflin as two characters who have been best friends since they were five years old and are their own worst enemies in their love lives. Ramin Djawadi to Score Duncan Jones’ ‘Warcraft’ Movie

Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Warcraft. The film directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) is based on the popular video game series of the same title and stars Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky. The movie is being described as an origin story and chronicles how the the humans and orcs came into conflict. Jones has also co-written the screenplay with Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, K-Pax, The Mighty). Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, 300: Rise of an Empire, 42) are producing the project for Legendary Pictures, alongside Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, American Hustle) and Alex Gartner (Get Smart) for Atlas Entertainment. ‘Samba’ Soundtrack Details

TF1 Musique will release a soundtrack album for the French comedy drama Samba. The album features the songs from the film, including tracks by The Brothers Johnson, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Gilberto Gil, Terry Callier, Syreeta and Jorge Ben. Also included are selections from the film’s original score composed by Ludovico Einaudi (The Intouchables). The soundtrack will be released overseas on October 13, 2014. No word yet on a domestic release date. Samba is directed by Olivier Nakache & Eric Toledano (The Intouchables) and stars Omar Sy, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Tahar Rahim and Izia Higelin. ‘The Canal’ Soundtrack Released

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the psychological horror thriller The Canal. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ceiri Torjussen (Test, Big Ass Spider). The soundtrack is now available digitally (the download link will be added to this article within the next couple of days. The Canal is written and directed by Ivan Kavanagh and stars Rupert Evans, Antonia Campbell Hughes, Hannah Hoekstra, Steve Oram and Kelly Byrne. The movie follows a man who moves into a beautiful period house by the canal with his wife and small child, when he begins to suspect that his wife is cheating on him and also starts to have nightmarish visions of an evil presence he believes inhabits his home. The nominations for the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) in the Visual Media categories in the visual media categories were announced today. Check out the nominees in the major categories below and visit the official HMMA website for the full list of nominations. The awards show will be held at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. The event will be hosted by Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts, former Matchbox 20 member Adam Gaynor, acclaimed Director/Writer/Producer Andy Fickman and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White.
