Antonio Pinto is composing the music for the upcoming sports drama McFarland. The film is directed by Niki Caro and stars Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, Morgan Saylor and Carlos Pratts. The movie is set in the 1980s and tells the true story of a high school coach who comes to the predominantly Latino town of McFarland, Calif. and creates a high school track team that becomes a championship-winning dynasty. Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (Miracle, The Rookie, Million Dollar Arm) are producing the project for Mayhem Pictures. ‘Walking on Sunshine’ Soundtrack Announced

Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the British musical Walking on Sunshine. The album features the songs from the film performed by cast members Leona Lewis, Annabel Scholey, Hannah Arterton, Giulio Berruti, Katy Brand and Greg Wise. Academy Award-winning composer Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, American History X) serves as the film’s music director. Featured titles are such classic 80s hit songs as The Power of Love, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, It Must Have Been Love, Eternal Love, If I Could Turn Back Time and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on June 23, 2014. Walking on Sunshine directed by Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini (StreetDance 3D) is set in a coastal village in Italy and details a holiday romance love triangle, an upcoming wedding and old flames. A&E Networks has released a soundtrack album for the History event docu-series The World Wars. The album features the show’s original music composed by Rusty Massive. The World Wars executive produced by Stephen David and directed by John Ealer tells the story of three devastating decades of war between 1914 and 1945 told through the eyes of the powerful leaders including Roosevelt, Hitler, Patton, Mussolini, Churchill, Tojo, DeGaulle and MacArthur. The series is narrated by Jeremy Renner and features interviews with contemporary leaders, including John McCain, Colin Powell, John Major and David Miliband, along with noted historians from around the world. Television Academy Celebrates TV Music at Live Concert

Last night, the Television Academy presented its first ever live concert, Score! A Concert Celebrating Music Composed for Television, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The event was hosted by film music journalist Jon Burlingame and featured music from over 50 television series performed by a 70-piece orchestra and the LA Chorus. To start off, Mark Watters conducted a medley featuring 24 themes from current and recent TV shows following a video montage of numerous classic themes. The medley included music from Once Upon a Time (Mark Isham), Sherlock (David Arnold & Michael Price), The Newsroom (Thomas Newman), Revolution (Christopher Lennertz), The Americans (Nathan Barr), Camelot (Mychael & Jeff Danna), Law & Order (Mike Post), Modern Family (Gabriel Mann) and Breaking Bad (Dave Porter). ‘Vikings’ Season 2 Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will release a new soundtrack album for the History original series Vikings. The album features selections from the original music of the second season of the show composed by Trevor Morris (The Tudors, The Borgias, Immortals). The soundtrack will be released on June 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon . Vikings is created by Michael Hirst and stars Travis Fimmel, Jessalyn Gilsig, Gustaf Skarsgard, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Alexander Ludwig, George Blagde and Alyssa Sutherland. The historical drama tells the story of viking Ragnar Lothbrok, one of the best-known mythological Norse heroes who rises to fame by successful raids into England with the support of his family and fellow warriors. Madified Publishing has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Honeyman. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia is directed by Nicholas D. Wrathall and centers on the controversial author, screenwriter and essayist who passed away in 2012. Through interviews with Vidal himself, as well as friends and colleagues such as Tim Robbins and Christopher Hitchens, the movie reveals how the charismatic cultural critic used the media to wage blistering attacks on hypocrisy and establishment politics. William Ross is set to collaborate with Robby Krieger, the guitarist of The Doors, and Pablo Manzarek, the son of Ray Manzarek, on the soundtrack for the upcoming drama The Poet in Exile. The film is written and directed by Tim Sullivan and will explore the urban legend that Jim Morrison is still alive. The movie is based on a novel written by Ray Manzarek, which suggests that Morrison staged his death in 1971 and later contacted Manzarek from his hiding place in the Seychelles Islands to embark on one last journey of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion. Howe Records has released a single featuring a track from the soundtrack for David Cronenberg’s drama Maps to the Stars.
