‘Coherence’ Soundtrack Details

coherenceMovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the indie sci-fi drama Coherence. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kristin Øhrn Dyrud. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 24, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Coherence is directed by James Ward Byrkit and stars Hugo Armstrong, Nicholas Brendon, Emily Foxler, Elizabeth Gracen, Lorene Scafaria, Lauren Maher, Alex Manugian and Maury Sterling. The movie centers on eight friends at a dinner party who experience a troubling chain of reality bending events on the night of an astrological anomaly. alexandre-desplatIt was announced today that Alexandre Desplat has been named president of the International Jury for the Competition section of the 71st Venice International Film Festival, which will run from August 27 to September 6. It marks the first time that a film composer has been chosen to head the jury, which comprise nine members and decide on the winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film and other awards. Desplat is known for his collaborations with directors Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life), Roman Polanski (The Ghost Writer), George Clooney (The Monuments Men) among many others. the-last-shipPremiering tonight on TNT is the action drama The Last Ship created by Hank Steinberg & Steven Kane and starring Eric Dane, Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin and Tracy Middendorf. Steve Jablonsky (TransformersEnder’s GameGangster Squad) has composed the main theme and Nathan Whitehead (The Purge) is scoring the show. the-musketeersAlso premiering tonight in the U.S. in the BBC adventure series The Musketeers created by Adrian Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval) and starring Luke Pasqualino, Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles, Peter Capaldi, Maimie McCoy, Tamla Kari and Hugo Speer. The show’s original music is composed by Murray Gold (Doctor Who). operation-changeWilliam Ross and Alex Kovacs are composing the music for the new OWN docu-series Operation Change. The show follows Bill & Tani Austin and their son Steven Sawalich from the Starkey Hearing Foundation, a global non-profit organization that gives free hearing aids to those in need, as they are joined by philanthropists and celebrities to tackle some of the most challenging issues plaguing our world today. The ten-part series features former President Bill Clinton, Sir Elton John, Sir Richard Branson, the Dalai Lama, Donna Karan, and Harry Connick, Jr. among others, each working to benefit a different region and local organization. mood-indigoMilan Records will release a soundtrack album for Michel Gondry’s fantasy drama Mood Indigo. The album features the film’s original music composed by Étienne Charry. Also included are several tracks by Duke Ellington, as well as the song Spring by Mia Doi Todd. The soundtrack will be released on July 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Mercury Records has previously released a soundtrack album for the movie overseas. Mood Indigo is written and directed by Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Minds) and stars Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Gad Elmaleh and Omar Sy. The film based on Boris Vian’s novel Froth on the Daydream opened in France last year and will be released in the U.S. by Drafthouse Films. Read the rest of this entry »

bennett-salvayBennett Salvay has signed on to score the upcoming FX comedy Partners. The show stars Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence as two Chicago lawyers from vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court as they each face a personal crisis. Telma Hopkins, Rory O’Malley, McKaley Miller, Edi Patterson and Danièle Watts are co-starring. Bob Boyett and Robert Horn (Good Advice) serve as the series’ showrunners. Two new movies are opening in wide release:

jersey-boysOpening in most theaters is the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys directed by Clint Eastwood and starring John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, Vincent Piazza and Christopher Walken. Rhino Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film and the musical written by Bob Gaudio and featuring lyrics by Bob Crewe, as well as original recordings by Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons. think-like-a-man-tooAlso opening wide is the comedy sequel Think Like a Man Too directed by Tim Story and starring Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Gabrielle Union, La La Anthony, Meagan Good, Terrence J, Adam Brody, Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Walton. Epic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired by the film by Mary J. Blige. joseph-bisharaJoseph Bishara has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming horror thriller The Vatican Tapes. The film is directed by Mark Neveldine (CrankGhost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) and stars Michael Pena, Olivia Dudley, Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, Peter Andersson, Kathleen Robertson,  John Patrick Amedori and Alex Sparrow. The movie follows a priest who tries to help a twentysomething woman who seems to cause death and destruction to those around her. Christopher Borrelli has written the screenplay based on an original story by himself and Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast Five). bmiBroadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) will continue its support for Sundance Institute’s Film Music Program, which collaborates with Skywalker Sound to host the Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound. The first 2014 session of the lab begins July 8 at Skywalker Ranch and provides an opportunity for composers and directors to explore the collaborative process of writing music for feature film. At the Lab, fellows work with a variety of Creative Advisors, including film composers, sound designers, filmmakers and film industry professionals. walk-of-fameThe Walk of Fame Selection Committee announced today that Ennio Morricone is among the 30 honorees to receive a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2015. He was selected to receive a star for his live performances on stage. The Italian composer who is known for such scores as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the WestThe Untouchables and The Mission will be one of roughly a dozen film composers receiving the honor. Previous honorees include Elmer Bernstein, Alfred Newman, Bill Conti, Maurice Jarre, Henry Mancini, Max Steiner, Victor Young, Les Baxter, Ernest Gold, Alan Menken, Randy Newman and Hans Zimmer.
