Heitor Pereira is composing the music for the upcoming historical fantasy adventure The Moon and the Sun. The film is directed by Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer, Raise Your Voice, Spare Parts) and stars Pierce Brosnan, William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Pablo Schreiber and Bingbing Fan. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Vonda N. McIntyre and tells the story of how French king Louis XIV tries to achieve immortality by stealing the life force from a mermaid. ‘Planet of the Apes’ Television Series Soundtrack Released

La-La Land Records has released a new soundtrack release for the Planet of the Apes television series based on the 20th Century Fox sci-fi feature franchise starring Roddy McDowall, Ron Harper and James Naughton. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Lalo Schifrin (Mission: Impossible, Enter the Dragon, Rush Hour, Dirty Harry), as well as additional music written by Earle Hagen and Richard LaSalle. The 2-CD set features over 2 hours of music from 9 different episodes of the series. The Cinema Audio Society has announced the nominees for the 51st Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing. For the past couple of years, scoring mixers are being recognized alongside production, re-recording, ADR and foley mixers. In the Motion Pictures – Live Action category, the scoring mixers honored include Robert Fernandez for American Sniper (feat. music by Clint Eastwood), Gustavo Borner for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Birdman (music by Antonio Sanchez) and Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy (scored by Tyler Bates), Alan Meyerson for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (music by Hans Zimmer) and Jonathan Allen for Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken (music by Alexandre Desplat). Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for the film adaptation of the stage musical Into the Woods. The album features the instrumental versions of the songs from the film composed by Stephen Sondheim. The soundtrack is now available digitally on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The label has previously released the official soundtrack album in two different editions. Into the Woods is directed by Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Meryl Streep, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski and Johnny Depp. The movie follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. The movie is set in the 1890s and follows drifter with nothing to lose who arrives in a small town and seeks revenge on the thugs who killed his best friend. ‘Outlander’ Soundtrack Announced

Madison Gate Records will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Outlander. The album features selections of the original score from the first season of the show written by Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., DaVinci’s Demons). Also featured are the songs adapted by McCreary for the series, including the main title theme, The Skye Boat Song, performed by Raya Yarbrough. The soundtrack will be released both digitally and physically on February 10, 2015. The label has previously released the main title theme as a single this past summer. Outlander is created by Ronald D. Moore based on the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon and stars Caitrona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, Duncan Lacroix, Annette Badland and Stephen Walters. Johann Johannsson Wins Golden Globe for ‘The Theory of Everything’

Johann Johannsson has received his first Golden Globe Award for his score for James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything starring Eddie Redmayne & Felicity Jones. The other composers nominated in the Best Original Score category were Alexandre Desplat (The Imitation Game), Antonio Sanchez (Birdman), Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (Gone Girl) and Hans Zimmer (Interstellar).
In the Best Original Song category, John Legend and Common won the award for the song Glory from Selma.

Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series Togetherness created and executive produced by Mark & Jay Duplass and starring Amanda Peet, Melanie Lynskey, Mark Duplass and Steve Zissis. The show’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Neighbors, Bridesmaids, Donnie Darko) who previously scored the Duplass Brothers’ features Cyrus and Jeff Who Lives at Home. The series about two couples who are living under the same Los Angeles roof and who are struggling in their relationships while dealing with their individual problems will every Sunday night on HBO. Premiering tomorrow, January 12, is the new MTV original drama Eye Candy based on the book by R.L. Stine, executive produced by Jason Blum and starring Victoria Justice, Casey Deidrick, Harvey Guillen, Kiersey Clemons and John Garet Stoker. Dino Meneghin (Teen Wolf) is composing the show’s original score. Eye Candy follows a tech genius who is persuaded by her roommate to begin online dating and begins to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker.
