Martin Phipps has composed the music for Amazon Studios pilot Oasis. The show is created by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies) based on the novel The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber and stars Richard Madden, Anil Kapoor, Michael Shaw, Mark Addy, Haley Joel Osment, Maureen Sebastian, Michael Shaffer and Zawe Ashton. The drama centers on a chaplain who is sent into space to help establish a colony on a distant planet. Charman is also executive producing the Amazon Studios and Left Bank production with Andy Harries (The Queen, The Crown, The Damned United) and Lila Rawlings (Dark River).

‘On Golden Pond’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the world premiere CD soundtrack release for the 1981 drama On Golden Pond directed by Mark Rydell and starring Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Doug McKeon, Dabney Coleman and William Lanteau. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dave Grusin (The Firm, The Goonies, The Milagro Beanfield War) who received his third Academy Award nomination for his work on the Universal Pictures release. Also included are dialogue snippets. The soundtrack will be released on April 28, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
Stephen Schwartz to Receive Founders Award at ASCAP Screen Music Awards
ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, announced today that composer Stephen Schwartz will be honored with the Founders Award at its 32nd annual ASCAP Screen Music Awards on Tuesday, May 16 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. The gala will also celebrate ASCAP’s top film, television and videogame composers of 2016. Over the course of his career, Schwartz has composed scores and lyrics for films including Godspell, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt, Enchanted, and the TV movie Geppetto.
Hulu’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ to Feature Music by Adam Taylor
Adam Taylor is composing the music for the upcoming Hulu original series The Handmaid’s Tale. The show is created by Bruce Miller (Alphas, The 100) and stars Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes and Alexis Bledel. The drama is based on the classic novel by Margaret Atwood and tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, an authoritarian theocracy that has supplanted the United States, where women are nothing more than wives, servants, or breeders, referred to as “handmaids.”
Christopher Willis Scoring Armando Iannucci’s ‘The Death of Stalin’
Christopher Willis is currently recording his score for the upcoming comedy The Death of Stalin. The film is directed by Armando Iannucci (In the Loop) and stars Adrian McLoughlin, Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale, Rupert Friend, Jason Isaacs, Michael Palin, Jeffrey Tambor, Andrea Riseborough, Paddy Considine and Olga Kurylenko. The movie is based on the French graphic novel by Fabien Nury & Thierry Robin and chronicles the chaotic days before Joseph Stalin’s funeral, marked by fierce infighting for the supreme power. Iannucci also co-wrote the screenplay with David Schneider, Ian Martin and Peter Fellows.

The album features the film’s original music composed by Bruno Coulais (Coraline, The Chorus, The Crimson Rivers, Winged Migration). The movie centers on a father who hatches a plan to kill his wife in order to be with the woman’s sister, with whom he’s having an affair.
