The film is directed by Justin Tipping and stars Jahking Guillory, Mahershala Ali, Kofi Siriboe, Christopher Jordan Wallace and Christopher Meyer. The movie follows a fifteen-year old boy and his two best friends who go on an ill-advised mission across the Bay Area to retrieve the a pair of sneakers that were stolen by a local hood. Tipping has also written the screenplay with Josh Beirne-Golden. The album features highlights from the career of the film’s subject Miles Davis, as well as new recordings overseen by Grammy Award-winning jazz/hip-hop artist Robert Glasper, including What’s Wrong with That?, a jam that closes the movie with guest performers Glasper, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Gary Clark, Jr. and Esperanza Spalding.
