akeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the animated feature Scooby Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon. The album features the film’s original music composed by Grammy Award nominee Ryan Shore (Prime, The Shrine, Numb, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, Harvard Man, Penn Zero: Part Time Hero) who previously also scored Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 12, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Scooby Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon is directed by Tim Divar and features the voice talent of Frank Welker, Grey DeLisle Griffin, Matthew Lillard and Kate Micucci, and WWE superstars The Undertaker, Triple H, Paige, Sheamus, Mr. McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Lana, Rusev, The Miz, Kolfi Kingston and Goldust. Smokey Robinson to Serve as Executive Music Producer on Motown-Themed Netflix Series

Netflix has announced today that singer/songwriter Smokey Robinson will serve as the executive music producer on an upcoming, currently untitled Netflix animated series. The show created by Josh Wakely (Beat Bugs) is set in the imaginary city of Motown, based on Detroit and its rich musical heritage, and revolves around a lovable, funny and slightly shy eight year old boy who discovers he has the extraordinary ability to bring street-art to life. The series will feature contemporary artists performing hit songs from the Motown catalog by artists including Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder & more. ‘Gleason’ Soundtrack Released

Drawing Number One has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Gleason. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Digging for Fire) and Saul Simon MacWilliams (Jim: The James Foley Story). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Gleason directed by Clay Tweel (Finders Keepers) goes inside the life of Steve Gleason, the former New Orleans Saints defensive back who, at the age of 34, was diagnosed with ALS and given a life expectancy of two to five years. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on Friday, July 2, by Open Road Films before premiering on Amazon later this year. ‘Nerve’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Nerve. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now, The Way Way Back). Also included is the song Let’s Play by Simonsen and White Sea, as well as a remix of Johann Johannsson’s The Sun’s Gone Dim and the Sky’s Turned Black. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, July 29, and is now available for pre-order on iTunes, where you can also check out audio samples. Nerve is directed by Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman and stars Emma Roberts, Dave Franco, Emily Meade, Miles Heizer, Juliette Lewis and Kimiko Glenn. ‘Indignation’ Soundtrack Details

The full details of the soundtrack album for the indie drama Indignation have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Jay Wadley, as well as the original song Is It Love performed by Jane Monheit and written by Wadley & director James Schamus (who was Academy Award-nominated for co-writing a song from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). The soundtrack will be released this Friday, July 29 by Nettwerk and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Indignation is written and directed by Schamus and stars Logan Lerman, Sarah Gadon, Tracy Letts, Linda Emond, Danny Burstein and Ben Rosenfield. The movie is based on Philip Roth’s novel of the same title and follows a young Jewish man who escapes his sheltered family life in New Jersey and his job in his father’s butcher shop to attend a small conservative Ohio college in 1951 on a scholarship. Deutsche Grammophon to Release ‘Snowden’ Soundtrack

Deutsche Grammophon will release the official soundtrack for Oliver Stone’s drama Snowden. The album features the film’s original music composed by Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, World Trade Center, The Incredible Hulk) and Adam Peters (Savages), as well as a remix by electronic music producer DJ Boys Noiz. The soundtrack will be released on September 16, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Snowden is co-written and directed by Stone and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage. The movie is based on the books The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena and chronicles Edward Snowden’s time in Russia hoping to get asylum while the United States was demanding his extradition. Rachel Portman is reteaming with director Lasse Hallstrom on the upcoming drama A Dog’s Purpose. The film starring Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, Peggy Lipton, K.J. Apa, Juliet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hal is based on the bestselling 2010 novel of the same title by W. Bruce Cameron and centers on one devoted dog (voiced by Bradley Cooper) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he loves by teaching them to laugh and love. Cameron and his wife Cathryn Michon have written the screenplay. Gavin Polone (Gilmore Girls, Panic Room, 8MM, Secret Window) is producing the Amblin Entertainment & Walden Media production. No Small Children’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Theme Song Cover Released

RCA Records has released the cover version of Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters theme song by No Small Children from Paul Feig’s reboot of the franchise. The track, which is featured in the movie’s end credits, is now available to download on Amazon. No Small Children is a LA-based punk rock band made up of three elementary school teachers – Lisa Pimentel, Nicola Belinsky and Joanie Pimentel. Check out the music video of the cover after the jump. The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring the other songs from the film, including more cover versions of Parker Jr.’s theme song. Aust announced today that Cliff Martinez will receive the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award on August 27, 2016 during the award ceremony of this year’s Soundtrack_Cologne conference. Martinez who is known for his work on film and as the former drummer of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers has composed the music for such films as Drive, Sex, Lies and Videotapes, Traffic (for which he was nominated for a Grammy Award), Contagion, The Lincoln Lawyer, Solaris, Kafka, Only God Forgives, The Limey and this year’s The Neon Demon. Dan Romer has recently composed the score for the upcoming indie drama Katie Says Goodbye. The film is written and directed by Wayne Roberts and stars Olivia Cooke, Mireille Enos, Christopher Abbott, Jim Belushi and Mary Steenburgen. The movie follows a kindhearted 17-year-old in the American Southwest who turns to prostitution to fulfill her dream of a new life in San Francisco.
